411 MOTOR SPEEDWAY BRINGS OUT THE BEST IN CHEVY SUPER SERIES ACTION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Round 3 of the 2015 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series season is scheduled for this Saturday night with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win $300-to-start race at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN.  In the three-year history of the Chevy Super Series, 411 Motor Speedway has been the site of some of the most memorable races for the series.

Maybe the most memorable moment for America’s first “Factory Backed and Factory Built” Super Late Model Series occurred in Round 1 of the 2015 season on March 21.  The defending Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN did not get off on the right foot in defense of his $10,000 title.

In qualifying, Johnson rolled the left-rear tire off the rim in turn one of his first lap, giving him no time.  Johnson had to take a provisional as the defending series champion and start 23rd in the last row of the main event starting field.  A packed house at 411 Motor Speedway was split down the middle in guessing Johnson’s fate for the 50-lap main event.

Half the crowd had been watching the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee long enough to have confidence that he could pull off the impossible and win the race.  The other half knew “The Chattanooga Flash” was good, but not that good.  When it came time for the start of the race, Johnson was ready, the 23 other drivers were ready, and the track was ready.

Johnson said before the race, he was just going to try and stay out of trouble, move through the field as far as he could, and hopefully load up with a Top 10 finish.  The rest of the drivers in the field felt like their chances for a win had increased with Johnson, who won three races the season before, starting in the back.

As always, 411 Motor Speedway was prepared immaculately and was poised to team up with the economical all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT525 Racing Engines to provide three and four wide racing from the green to the checkered flags.

The fans had one eye focused on a multi-car battle for the lead, and the other eye towards the back of the pack watching Johnson.  It wasn’t long before the left eye met the right eye, and brought them to their feet.  They went wild cheering for Johnson because they knew they were being treated to something special.

Johnson took the lead on lap 35, and then went on to win the 50-lap race.  A standing-room-only crowd had gathered that night at 411 Motor Speedway.  When Johnson pulled his car into Victory Lane on the front straightaway, the crowd did not leave the grandstand area until they gave him a standing ovation for his performance as he climbed out of his “Famous Five” race car.

Since that special evening at 411 Motor Speedway, Johnson went on to post a second-place finish in Round 2 on June 13 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and he leads the Chevy Super Series points standings with 196 points.  Tim Busha of Boaz, AL has a pair of Top 5 finishes and is second in the standings, 12 points behind Johnson, with 184 points.

The race fans at 411 Motor Speedway will see continued growth in the car count of the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series.  In the first three races this season that include a rainout on June 12 at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, the Chevy Super Series has averaged 26 cars at each show.

Adam Martin of Talladega, AL is third in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series standings with 178 points and he also leads an impressive list of contenders in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings.  Rookie Ryan King of Anniston, AL is fourth in the standings with 174 points, and Rookie Mario Gresham of Rome, GA is fifth with 168 points.

Tyler Crowder of Lamont, FL is sixth in the Chevy Super Series points chase with 162 points, and Jacob Grizzle of Blairsville, GA is seventh with 158 points.  Jake Knowles of Rome, GA is eighth with 152 points and Jeff Smith of Dalton, GA is ninth with 150 points.  Rookie Brandon Williams of Crossville, TN and Jadon Frame of Winchester, TN are tied for tenth with 138 points apiece.

Other Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series regulars that are just outside the Top 10 point standings that will be looking to race their way in this Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway include local favorite Rookie Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN, Ross Martin of Talladega, AL, Tony Thompson of Ohatchee, AL, Rookie Josh Johnson of Winchester, TN, Lavon Sparks of Phenix City, AL, Rookie Matt Dooley of Brooks, GA, Rookie Trevor Thompson of Dallas, GA, David Brannon of Elora, TN, and Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN.

There will also be a tough contingent of local 411 Motor Speedway favorites trying to make the 24-car main event starting field with Pierce McCarter of Gatlinburg, TN, Forrest Trent of Talbott, TN, defending Track Champion Ryan King of Seymour, TN, former Track Champion Rusty Ballenger of Sevierville, TN, Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN, and Barry Anderson of Murphy, NC.

The top four finishers in Saturday night’s Chevy Super Series race at 411 Motor Speedway will be the first four of 16 drivers eligible for the Hoosier Race Tire Road To Dega bonus money.  If one of the 16 Hoosier Race Tire Road To Dega drivers wins the 3rd Annual $6,000-to-win Dega 100 on October 3 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, they will receive a $4,000 bonus for a $10,000 payday.

The race cars in the Chevy Super Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance CT 525 Engine that is a racing version of the LS3 Engine that is found in the production Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Camaro, and Chevrolet SS and available at Chevrolet dealers world-wide.

The all-aluminum engine is built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications, and is available race-ready for right at $10,000 at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA with free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast.  To place an order, call Tim Bland at 1-877-497-3624.

Race fans are encouraged to arrive early at 411 Motor Speedway this Saturday, as the Chevy Super Series drivers and their race cars will be in the Chevy Fan Zone behind the main grandstand at 411 Motor Speedway from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.  The Grandstand Gate at 411 Motor Speedway will open at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Chevy Fan Zone gives both the competitors and the fans an opportunity to get to know each other on a personal basis in an effort to enhance their experience at Chevy Super Series events.  The fans are used to just seeing a race car going around the track while sitting in the stands, but at Chevy Super Series events, they will also know the person under the helmet sitting behind the wheel!

The cars and stars of the Chevy Super Series will be in the Chevy Fan Zone signing autographs, posing for photos, and kids will receive driver hero cards and coloring books.  The fans can also see the race cars, and the production-based engines that power them up close.  The chances are pretty good that several fans will have the same engine under the hood of the car they drove to the race track!

On Saturday, the 411 Motor Speedway pit gate opens at 3 p.m. with Chevy Super Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with Hot Laps and Racing to follow.

411 Motor Speedway is located one mile south of U.S. Highway 441 on U.S. Highway 411 at 632 Maryville Highway, Seymour, TN  37865.  For more information call 865-257-7223 or visit the track web site at www.411motorspeedway.net and their Facebook page at 411 Motor Speedway.
