NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 13 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 13 of the 27-week 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will feature eight races in five states with two special Memorial events on Friday night and six races on Saturday night.  Point leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS will be looking for his third straight win this weekend.

                Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will present the Todd Corkern Memorial Race for the NeSmith Late Models this Friday night that will honor the memory of the former track flagman and race official.  Salina Speedway on Salina, KS will remember and honor a former promoter and racer this Friday night with the Lonnie Smith Memorial Race.

                On Saturday night, the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series will be in action at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL for Round 7 of the 2015 season in conjunction with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.  Joseph Joiner leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings.

                Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will present Double Features this Saturday night for the NeSmith Late Models.  The first race will be a Week 4 Make-Up Race, and the second feature will be the regularly scheduled Week 13 race.

                Also in action with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 13 events will be Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX, Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

                Arnold leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 530 points over 11 weeks of competition, and he has the second highest Weekly Point Average, or WPA, among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings at 48.18 out of a possible 50.  Joiner is second in the standings with 463 points after ten weeks of racing, and the eighth highest WPA at 46.3. 

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL is third in the standings with 389 points after eight weeks of racing, and has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings at 48.63.  The 13-year-old driver also leads the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 380 points over eight weeks, and has the third highest WPA at 47.5.  The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is fifth in the standings with 371 points after eight weeks of racing, and has the seventh highest WPA at 46.38

Adam Cummings of Odenville, AL is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 331 points after seven weeks of competition, and has the fifth highest WPA at 47.29.  Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS has the seventh spot in the standings with 328 point earned over eight weeks of racing.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS is in the eighth spot of the standings with 327 points after seven weeks of racing, and has the sixth highest WPA at 46.71.  Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is ninth in the standings with 322 points after seven weeks of racing, and has the ninth highest WPA at 46.

Another Sunoco Young Gun Challenge Series driver, 17-year-old Cole Daffron of Pell City, AL, rounds out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 317 points after seven weeks of racing.  Daffron is second in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings.

Two drivers in the second ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings are in the Top 10 of the WPA List.  Robbie Starnes of Livingston, TX is 14th in the standings with 285 points after six weeks of racing, but he is tied with Lee for the third highest WPA at 47.5.  Monte Skinner of Saraland, AL is 15th in the standings with 272 points, but he has the tenth highest WPA at 45.33.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27.  The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with.  The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
