NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 12 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 12 of the 27-week 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will feature seven races at six tracks in five different states.  There will be two races on Friday night and five races on Saturday night.  At one of the Saturday night events, race fans will get a rare opportunity to see three different NeSmith Racing Divisions competing at the same track.

                On Friday night, Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will kick off NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 12 action along with a special Friday night show at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. 

                Magnolia Motor Speedway will host two NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 12 races, with a $1,000-to-win event highlighting Saturday night’s action.  Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will have a Saturday night Week 12 event, along with a rare chance to see two other NeSmith Racing Divisions in the same show on the same night.

                In addition to the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models, the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will be in action with dirt late models powered by the production-based economical all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT525 Racing Engine will be at Talladega Short Track this Saturday night along with the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies.

                Southern Raceway in Milton, FL will host Round 6 of the 2015 NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series.  Also hosting Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 12 races will be Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX and Camden Speedway in Camden, TN.

                Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 480 points earned over ten weeks and Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL is second with 415 points earned over nine weeks.  Joiner also leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series points. 

Teammates Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS are third and fourth respectively in the standings.  Lee has 380 points earned over eight weeks and Daspit has 371 points earned over eight weeks.

The fifth-place driver in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings is 13-year-old Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL who has 341 points earned over seven weeks.  Skinner also leads the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS is sixth in the standings with 327 points earned in seven weeks, and Al Kouhout of Hattiesburg, MS has the seventh spot with 302 points earned over seven weeks. 

Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is eighth with 297 points earned over six weeks.  Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is ninth with 287 points earned over seven weeks and Robbie Starnes of Livingston, TX is tenth with 285 points earned over six weeks.

When you take point totals of the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings and divide them by the number of weeks they have competed, you come up with their Weekly Point Average.  The WPAs are used as a gauge in the first half of the season to determine who the Championship Contenders are.

Palasini has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings at 49.5 out of a possible 50.  Skinner has the second highest WPA at 48.71, and Cliff Williams of Star, MS, who is 18th in the point standings, has the third highest WPA at 48.2.  Point leader Arnold has the fourth highest WPA at 48.

Lee and Starnes are tied for the fifth highest WPA at 47.5, and Adam Cummings of Odenville, AL, who is 11th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, has the seventh highest WPA at 47.33.  Keeton has the eighth highest WPA at 46.71, and Casey Haney of Meridian, MS, who is 20th in the standings, has the ninth highest WPA at 46.6.  Daspit has the tenth highest WPA at 46.38.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27.  The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with.  The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
