MARTIN FAMILY RACING LIVES THE LIFE OF CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE CT525 RACING

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TALLADEGA, AL – The Martin Family Racing Team of Talladega, AL consists of father Ross Martin and son Adam Martin.  They have both been competing in Super Late Model competition using the economical all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT525 Racing Engine for the past four years.

Last week they lived the economical, durability, and accessibility virtues of the Chevrolet Performance CT525 Engine over just a few days’ time.  They had cycled through what a lot of people had been saying about the selling points of the engine all along in preparation for this weekend’s Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Alabama Double-Header.

Ross Martin had been a long time Super Late Model competitor prior to 2011, and his son Adam Martin was one of the top NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series drivers, winning the 2008 East Region championship in a dirt late model powered by a $5,795 Chevrolet Performance aluminum-head 604 Circle Track Engine.  By the end of the 2011 season, Adam was ready to move up to the Supers.

There was one problem, however, for the Martin’s and that was cash flow.  An all-aluminum specially built super late model open motor was pushing north of $30,000.  It was all Ross could do to keep one in his car and keep refreshing it, let alone keep one up for Adam.  In the meantime, the Chevrolet Performance CT525 had proven itself to be a winning and durable engine.

Ronnie Johnson had spent the last three seasons winning many super late model events with a Chevrolet Performance CT525 Engine, and all he ever had to do to service the engine was change the oil.

“It didn’t me long to figure out the math that I could buy three CT525s for the price of one open motor, but I only needed two – one for me and one for Adam,” Ross Martin said.  “Then we would have money left over to spend on the rest of the race cars.  I got my CT525 first by the end of the 2010 season, and Adam started with his in 2012.”

Since they began running the CT525s, Ross has won 14 races, including the prestigious 2013 Ice Bowl Race at the Martins’ home track, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Adam has won nine races.  In 2013, they both competed in the new Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series that features dirt late models powered by the CT525 Engine.

Adam Martin finished sixth in the 2013 Chevy Super Series point standings and Ross Martin finished eighth in the points chase.  Now in its third season, Adam Martin is a title contender and comes into the weekend third in points after finishing third in the 2015 season opener on March 21 at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN.

Adam Martin was looking forward to this weekend’s Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series races right in his own backyard with Penton Raceway in Penton, AL on Friday night with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win race and Talladega Short Track on Saturday night with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race.

As those dates neared, Adam Martin was racing in Georgia on May 30 when his four-year-old CT525 Engine gave up the ghost.  If it had been any other kind of engine, the younger Martin’s season may have been over.

“If that would have been an open motor that blew up, we would have been crying because we would have had to spend at least $30,000 for new one, get in line and wait a few months to have it built, and our season would have been over,” Adam Martin said.  “Dad said instead of crying, we should just celebrate the life of that engine because it made enough money over four years to pay for itself and to buy a new one.”

Four-years of maintenance-free usage and nine wins is durability to celebrate.  On Monday morning, the Martins removed the accessories from the old engine, called NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA to order a new Chevrolet Performance CT 525 Engine long block and paid $7,295 for it over the phone.  The Martins continued to celebrate the economical aspect of the CT525 Engine.

The new engine was picked up by a truck at the NeSmith Chevrolet Warehouse in Claxton, GA that afternoon, and driven to the Martin’s shop in Talladega, AL where it was delivered, free of charge, the next morning.  The Martins continued to celebrate the accessibility of the Chevrolet Performance CT525 Engine.

The Martins had the new powerplant installed in Adam Martin’s dirt late model race car by Wednesday, and they had yet one more thing to celebrate.  On Saturday night, Adam Martin won the Super Late Model feature race at Talladega Short Track with the new Chevrolet Performance CT525 under the hood of his race car.

Instead of being down and out with an expensive built motor, the Martins were up and running in winning fashion the next week with the durable, economical, and accessible all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT525 Racing Engine.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series races this Friday night at Penton Raceway and this Saturday night at Talladega Short Track will be Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2015 season.  The defending Chevy Super Series National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN won the season opener on March 21 at 411 Motor Speedway after starting 23rd.
