TALLADEGA SHORT TRACK AND GREEN VALLEY SPEEDWAY SIGN ON WITH NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL have signed on to be sanctioned by the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division effective immediately.  The two East Alabama tracks bring the number of sanctioned tracks to eight.

Drivers in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division at Talladega Short Track and Green Valley Speedway will compete for both a Track Point Fund against drivers at the track, and a National Point Fund against drivers at all of the other sanctioned-tracks using a points system.

“We’ve been a part of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series for Late Models since 2006, and I’ve seen firsthand how good that has been for weekly Late Model racing, so I know what the NeSmith Performance Street Stock Division can do for that class,” Talladega Short Track Promoter Lynn Phillips said.  “NeSmith has done a great job at trying to keep the costs down for racers, and giving them some good publicity.  This is something that is really needed for the Street Stocks.”

Both competitors and track owners/promoters like the concept of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division in that it creates a common set of rules so Street Stock competitors can travel from track to track without having to make a lot of changes to their race cars.

“I’ve been watching the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division since the beginning of the season, and the big thing that stands out are the high car counts at all of the sanctioned tracks,” Green Valley Speedway General Manager Adam Stewart said.  “The tracks are working together, and the competitors are moving around from track to track, something that was not possible when tracks had different Street Stock rules.”

Drivers that race at NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals during the 27-week season that runs through September 29.  The 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division champion will pocket $2,000 and the National point fund pays back to the Top 10 drivers at the end of the season.

“There are still 16 weeks left in the 2013 season, so there is still plenty of time for NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division drivers at Talladega Short Track and Green Valley Speedway to battle for the National Championship,” NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Director Roby Helm said.  “The tracks also have the option to run some double-feature events before the end of the season to help their competitors catch up.”

The economical steel-head Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine is an optional engine for competitors in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division.  The Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine is in stock and available for $3,195.00 with free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast from NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA.

NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA is the nation’s Number One GM Performance and Powertrain Dealer for six years running.  To place an order call Tim Bland at 1-877-497-3624.

“The Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine has found a home with the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division,” Helm said.  “It has performed on equal footing with the built engines in the Division for one-third of the cost, and two of the top three cars in the point standings have 602s under the hood.  Several other competitors have said their next engine will be a 602.”

Talladega Short Track and Green Valley Speedway join a growing list of weekly tracks that have adopted the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and they include Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Moulton Speedway in Moulton, AL, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

According to NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division officials, several other tracks have shown an interest in the Division and its rules package.  The Mississippi Street Stock Series has also adopted the Division rules, and has worked closely with NeSmith Racing in developing the package.

“The growth of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division this season has gone beyond our expectations, and we’re really excited about that,” NeSmith Racing Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said.  “I get more calls every day about the Street Stock Division than I do about our Crate Late Model and CT 525 Late Model programs.  We are currently talking to several other tracks about coming onboard with the Street Stock program, and I’m confident we’ll have more announcements to make about the growth of this Division in the coming weeks.”
