BUSINESS IS PICKING UP IN JUNE FOR CHEVY SUPER SERIES WITH THREE RACES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – In the month of June, the air temperature begins to climb, and likewise with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, the month of June means the close racing action also picks up.  Two of the next three races are this weekend for America’s first Factory Backed and Factory Built Super Late Model Series.

Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will host the Chevy Super Series this Friday night with Round 2 of the 2015 season, a $2,000-to-win 40-lap race.  Penton Raceway has presented a Chevy Super Series in each of its three seasons, and held the first-ever race for the series in 2013.

If history repeats itself, we know who the 2015 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series National Champion will be after the Penton Raceway event.  In 2013, William Thomas of Phenix City, AL won his first race of the season at Penton Raceway and went on to win the title.  Last season, Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN won his first series race of the season at Penton, and he also went on to win the 2014 Championship.

On Saturday night, the Chevy Super Series will visit Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL for Round 3 of the 2015 season with a $3,000-to-win 50-lap race.  Talladega Short Track has played an important role in the development of the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series featuring race cars powered by the production-based all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT 525 Racing Engine.

The Chevrolet Performance CT 525 Engine is a racing version of the LS3 Engine that is found in the production Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Camaro, and Chevrolet SS.  The engine is built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications, and is available race-ready for right at $10,000 at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA with free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast.  To place an order, call Tim Bland at 1-877-497-3624.

Talladega Short Track was one of the first weekly tracks in the country to include the economical Chevrolet Performance CT525 Engine as an optional engine in its Super Late Model Division that was suffering from a low car count due to rising costs of all-aluminum specially built racing engines.

The economical aspect of the Chevrolet Performance CT525 Engine, and the lack of maintenance needed to operate it because all you have to do is change the oil, has kept several drivers in the Super Late Model Division and opened the door of opportunity for many new competitors to the Division that would otherwise been priced out of the sport.

Last Saturday night, four of the top five Super Late Models at TST were powered by the Chevrolet Performance CT525 Engine.  Adam Martin of Talladega, AL was the winner, and he will return to Talladega Short Track this Saturday night third in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series point standings behind point leader Johnson and second-place Mario Gresham of Rome, GA.

Martin’s TST win was the final chapter of a week-long story that told the tale of just how affordable and accessible the all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT525 Racing Engine is to competitors.  Martin’s four-year-old CT525 gave up the ghost two weeks ago.

Martin’s dad Ross Martin removed the broken engine from the race car and took the accessories off the engine on Monday.  Next he called NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA to order a new CT525 long block for just $7,295.00.  NeSmith Chevrolet delivered the new CT525 to Martin’s shop by Tuesday morning.  They had it in the car, ready to race by Wednesday.

“If that would have been an open motor, we would have probably been done for the season before we could order a new one, wait to have it built, and then pay for it,” Martin said.  “If that would have been an open motor that blew, we’d be crying, but Dad said with the four-year-old CT525 Engine, we just needed to celebrate its life because it made enough money to pay for itself and buy the new one!”

Another Talladega Short Track local favorite to watch this Saturday night is Tim Busha of Boaz, AL.  Busha is currently fifth in the Chevy Super Series standings and won the 2013 grand finale for the Chevy Super Series at TST, the $6,000-to-win Dega 100, and finished second in the race last year.

Round 4 of the 2015 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series season will be on June 27, and will be an encore of Round 1 on March 21 at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN, the site of the most memorable 50-lap race in series history.  In that event, Johnson started 23rd, took the lead on lap 35 and went on to score a popular victory in front of a standing-room-only crowd of East Tennessee fans.

Also expected this Friday night at Penton Raceway, this Saturday night at Talladega Short Track, and on June 27 at 411 Motor Speedway will be Pierce McCarter of Gatlinburg, TN, Tyler Crowder of Lamont, FL, Brandon Williams of Crossville, TN, Ryan King of Anniston, AL, Jadon Frame of Winchester, TN, Ross Martin of Talladega, AL, Jacob Grizzle of Blairsville, GA, Trevor Thompson of Dallas, GA, Forrest Trent of Talbott, TN, Jake Knowles of Rome, GA, Jeff Smith of Dalton, GA, Matt Dooley of Brooks, GA, and many more.

Race fans are always encouraged to arrive early to a Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series event long before the two and three-wide action takes place on the track.  The Chevy Fan Zone will have the drivers meeting and greeting the race fans with their race cars on display in the grandstand area handing out autographed hero cards and coloring books for the kids.

On Friday at Penton Raceway, the pit gate opens at 3 p.m. with Chevrolet Performance Super Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The Chevy Fan Zone will be open in the Grandstand are from 6 p.m. to 7p.m.  The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and Racing is set for 8 p.m.
