FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – There was movement among the Top 10 positions in the Sunoco Young Gun Challenge Series point standings last week for drivers 18 years of age and younger, as five of the top six drivers were in action with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division and the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.

Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point leader Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL was the star of the class last week, as the 13-year-old driver visited Victory Lane twice in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model action.

Skinner picked up win number three on the 2015 season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL.  On Saturday night, Skinner drove the Skinner’s Body Shop CVR to win number four on Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

That gives Skinner 324 points after four wins, five top five finishes, and six top ten finishes in eight races.  Skinner also moved up to the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National standings.

Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS is second in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series standings after competing in the Salute To The Navy 40 on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series.  The 15-year-old Marsh has 259 points after two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in seven races.

Cole Daffron of Pell City, AL finished fifth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the TSR Race Cars Warrior and the driver who turned 17 today climbed into the third spot of the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series standings with 243 points.  Daffron has one top five finish and three top ten finishes in five races.

Tyler Clem of St. Petersburg, FL dropped to fourth in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series standings with 224 points.  The 12-year-old Florida Phenom did not compete in any NeSmith Late Model action last week.  Clem has two top five finishes and four top ten finishes in five National Touring events.

Clem is best remembered for leading 27 laps of the 50-lap NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series race on May 2 at Talladega Short Track holding off a pair of two-time series champions, Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN and Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS.  Clem lost the lead to Johnson late in the race and came home to finish fourth.
