NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 10 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 10 competition of the 27-week 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season will see two teammates battle for the top spot in the point standings towards the $10,000 Championship. Week 10 action will see ten races in six different states. The first race of Week 10 competition has already taken place.

Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY drove the SGR Equipment Rocket to victory in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series event on Monday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN. Clayhill Motorsports will hold their Championship Race in the King of the Clayhill Series this Saturday night.

Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will be in action with a special Friday night event where two-time West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS will be looking for his third straight NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win. Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR will also be in action this Friday night.

Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 10 Saturday night events are scheduled for East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS holds an eight-point lead over his teammate Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings going into Week 10 competition. Arnold has 435 points and Daspit has 427 points.

Daspit will be looking for his fourth straight NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win at St. Tammany Raceway on Saturday night, and his fifth of the season. Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is third in the standings with 398 points and the third Billy Riels Racing team member Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth with 379 points.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is fifth with 349 points and three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is sixth with 320 points. Ricky Waggoner of Benton, KY is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 294 points and Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is eighth with 289 points.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO holds down the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 287 points, and Roger Witt of Batesville, AR rounds out the Top 10 in the standings with 280 points.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.
