NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series News Release: Contact – ROBY HELM – (865) 207-4157 May 24, 2013 HOLLINGSWORTH MAKES IT FOUR FOR SIX IN NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS AT HMP FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: HATTIESBURG, MS – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point leader Ronny Lee Hollingsworth of Northport, AL is now four for six in the 2013 season, as he drove the Sparks Motorsports Special to victory on Friday night in the Salute To Army 40 at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park. Friday night’s race was the opening night of the three-race Salute To The Armed Forces Nationals. “Right Foot Ronny” charged to the front early in the race from his fourth starting spot to battle pole sitter and fast qualifier Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL for the lead. Hollingsworth took the lead on lap 12 and never looked back for a $2,000 payday, taking over a three second margin of victory over the second-place finisher Tait Davenport of Benton, KY in the Murtco, Inc. Special. Rookie of the Year point leader Kyle Bronson of Brandon, FL finished third after starting tenth in the Brandon Ford Warrior and was also the Rookie of the Race. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS took the fourth spot in the Billy Riels Racing GRT. National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN started the NeSmith Chevrolet Special from the 17th starting spot and finished fifth to earn the Hedman Husler of the Race Award. Bronson and Johnson are now tied for the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring point standings with 378 points apiece. Hollingsworth, with 400 points, hold a 22-point lead over Bronson and Johnson. McRee is fourth with 346 points after an 18th-place finish on Friday night in the High Roller Race Cars Special. Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN is fifth in the standings with 334 points. Gentry was running fourth with two laps to go and broke, giving him a 14th-place finish in the Eads Farms/Hardy & Associates Warrior. That earned Gentry the Dominator Race Products Hard Luck Award. Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS took the sixth spot in the Jerry Inmon Racing Special, and Mack McCarter of Sevierville, TN was seventh after starting 18th in the McCarter Lumber Company CVR. Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS finished eighth in the Bassett Hound Motorsports GRT. Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL drove the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star to a ninth-place finish, and Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL rounded out the top ten in the Yellow Hammer Construction Special. In preliminary action, McRee out-timed the 34-car field in qualifications with a lap around the ¼-mile clay oval in 13.195 seconds. The four eight-lap Heat Races were won by Stokes, Shaw, Stephen Brantley of Monroeville, AL in the Airport Sports Center Special, and Cliff Williams of Star, MS in the Star Plumbing Trak-Star. The second night of the Memorial Day Weekend Salute To The Armed Forces Nationals for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will be the $2,000-to-win Salute To The Navy 40 on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.
