NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 8 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 8 of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season will feature 12 dirt late model events in seven different states. Drivers from the Billy Riels Racing Team holds the top three spots in the series point standings with Michael Arnold leading Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS.

There will be one Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series race at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS. The rest of the Week 8 schedule will take place on Saturday night at 11 different tracks.

NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series tracks in action on Saturday night are Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Drivers will have an opportunity to tune-up for two of the next three NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division races on Memorial Day Weekend. There will be three $2,000-to-win 40-lap NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division events at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park on May 24, Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS on May 25, and at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS on May 26.

Arnold leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 341 points and holds an 11-point lead over Lee, who has 330 points. Daspit is third with 327 points and will be looking for his third straight win this weekend. Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS and Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS are tied for the fourth spot with 305 points apiece.

Three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 279 points. Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is seventh in the standings with 249 points and will be looking for his fifth straight win in Week 8 competition.

Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS is eighth with 237 points, and Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA is ninth with 227 points. Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 226 points.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.
