Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 290 points and holds a four point advantage over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS with 286.  The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is third with 277 points and fourth is Cliff Williams of Star, MS with 241 points.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 234 points and NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point leader Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL is sixth in the National standings with 232 points.

At the one-quarter mark of the 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season, points are just a reflection of drivers that have competed in a lot of races.  What really give a better gauge of where a driver ranks in the series is by using the Weekly Point Average, or WPA.  The WPA is the point total divided by the number of weeks a driver has competed in.

The top six drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings are among the Top 10 in the WPA list.  There are five drivers in the second ten of the point standings that are in Top 10 spot on the WPA list, and will be drivers to watch in the coming weeks.

Arnold has the highest WPA at 48.33 out of a possible 50.  Williams has the second highest WPA at 48.20 and the third-highest WPA belongs to 13-year-old Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL at 48.  Skinner is 12th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, and leads the Sunoco Young Gun Challenge Series points for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger.

Lee has the fourth highest WPA at 47.67.  The fifth highest WPA belongs to Keeton at 46.80.  Robbie Starnes of Houston, TX is 13th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, but has the sixth highest WPA at 46.75.

Casey Haney of Meridian, MS is 14th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, but he has the seventh highest WPA at 46.50.  Joiner has the eighth highest WPA at 46.40, while Greg Fore of Greenville, MS and Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS are tied for the 15th spot in the National points and tied for the ninth-highest WPA at 45.75.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27.  The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with.  The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
