NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 5 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA - Week 5 action in the 2016 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series saw both Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS and Robbie Starnes of Baytown, TX pick up 50-point wins and close in on point leader Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS.  Lee has a nine point lead over second-place Arnold, and Arnold has a four-point advantage over Starnes in the third spot.

               Arnold drove the Miss-Lou Mobile Home Movers Trak-Star to his second NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA.  Starnes took his second series win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Lone Star Hydro Maintenance Special.

               Lee was able to stay on top of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 246 points thanks to a second-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in the Billy Riels Racing Special.  Lee has competed in eight races with two wins, six top five finishes and eight top ten finishes.

               Arnold has 237 points with two wins, four top five finishes and six top ten finishes in six NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races.  Starnes has 233 points with two wins, six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in seven races. 

Lee’s teammate, Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 226 points after two top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in seven starts.  In Week 5 competition, Ladner finished tenth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway driving the L&L Performance Trak-Star.

               Hunter Lewis of Moss Point, MS is fifth in the standings with 219 points after two top five finishes and four top ten finishes in five NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races.  Lewis finished eighth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in the T. Lewis Construction Rocket. 

Nick Gaines of Pearl River, LA is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 211 points after three top ten finishes.  Gaines drove the Great American Cookies of Slidell Special to a seventh-place finish on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway.

Mike Boland of Cuba, AL is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 189 points after two wins, four top five finishes and five top ten finishes in five races driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star.  Boland finished fourth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is eighth in the standings with 187 points after four top five finishes and five top ten finishes in five NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races.  Jordan drove the Big Nasty Motorsports Special to a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. 

Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS and Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point leader 16-year-old Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS are tied for ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 184 points apiece.  Sanchagrin has three top five finishes and four top ten finishes in five races.  Marsh has one win, two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in four races.

Sanchagrin drove the Permanent Exterior Solutions Special to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway.  Marsh finished seventh on Saturday night at North Mississippi Motor Park Speedway in Corinth, MS driving the Modern Woodmen Trak-Star.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 5 action, Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS drove the Scott’s Body Works and Towing Special to victory on Friday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.  Chris Kratzer of Haysville, KS was the winner on Friday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS driving the Wichita Tire and Alignment Special.

Randy Boyd of Marion, MS was the winner on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Harwell Racing Trak-Star.  Cliff Ross of Florence, MS took the victory on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in the Net Auto Trak-Star.  Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL drove the CRM Motors GRT to victory on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Cody Smith of Holt, FL remains undefeated in NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series competition, as he won his third straight race on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL driving the Smith’s Performance Rocket.  Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS was the winner on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the MP Trucking Special.

Billy Tedford of Thaxton, MS drove the Advance Auto Parts Trak-Star to victory on Saturday night at North Mississippi Motor Park Speedway.  The results from Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN are on hold pending multiple Engine Protests.

There were three rainouts of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 5 races with Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, TX and Penton Raceway in Penton, AL raining out on Friday night.  Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX was rained out on Saturday night.

Week 5 was a good one for Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL, as they picked up four wins, courtesy of Ross, Arnold, Boyd and Tedford, to bring their season total to nine in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge point standings.  Trak-Star Race Cars is looking for its fifth chassis title.

Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge standings, as Smith gave them their third win of the season.  Adkins gave GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR their first win of the season to move them into a tie for third with CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN.  Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
