NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 5 PREVIEW

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series has a busy Week 5 on tap with a dozen races in eight different states. The Week 5 schedule of events features three Friday night events, and nine Saturday night races.

Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series events are scheduled for Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, and Penton Raceway in Penton, AL. Jackson Motor Speedway and Penton Raceway will be hosting their NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS season openers on Friday night.

Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will be hosting Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series events.

In other Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series action, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN will present Night 3 of the King of the Clayhill Series, and Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will host its 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS season opener.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings going into Week 5 competition with 194 points. Three-time Series Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is second with 191 points, Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS are tied for fourth with 186 points apiece.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA is fifth with 183 points, Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is sixth with 180 points, Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is seventh with 176 points, Al Kouhout of Hattiesburg, MS is eighth with 168 points, Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is ninth with 149 points, and Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 148 points.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.
