NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 3 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 3 of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season will see eight races in seven different states. There will be one Friday night race and seven Saturday night events for dirt late model drivers battling for the $10,000 Championship over the 27-week season.

Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR will be in action tonight with the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division. Chandler Petty of Beebe, AR will be looking for his second straight series win.

West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO will be working with Batesville Motor Speedway during the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season. West Plains Motor Speedway will present its series season opener this Saturday night.

Battleground Speedway in Highland, TX will also have its 2013 season opener this Saturday night, and will present the first-ever NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model race in the state of Texas.

Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN will present Night 1 of the Six-Night “King of the Clayhill” Series for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models on Saturday night. Drivers at Clayhill Motorsports will compete for bonus money over the six-race series. Ricky Waggoner of Boaz, KY won the tune-up race last week.

East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL will be back in action this Saturday night, as they embark on their 40th Anniversary season. Jimmy Thomas of Phenix City, AL picked up his first NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model win last Saturday night.

St, Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA will be looking for its third different NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model winner in as many weeks this Saturday night. Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA took the Week 1 victory, and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS took the win last week.

Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will be back in action this Saturday night with the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models. Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL picked up his first win since 2008 last Saturday night.

Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will present NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model action this Saturday night. Randy Boyd of Marion, MS topped a 25-car field last Saturday night to pick up the win.

Going into NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 3 competition, just six points separate the Top 5 in the point standings. Three-time Series Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS leads the standings with 98 points, followed by Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS in second with 97 points, and Trosclair is third with 96 points.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS holds down the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 95 points after a Week 2 win at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS. Robert Casada of Petal, MS rounds out the Top 5 in the NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS standings with 92 points.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.
