NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION WEEK 3 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – There are three Saturday night events on the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 3 schedule of events at Moulton Speedway in Moulton, AL, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.  There has also been an adjustment in the current point standings due to an administrative issue.

                Going into Week 3 of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division season, Roger Flynn of Denham Springs, LA leads the standings with 90 points based on two wins in the first two weeks of the season driving the Flynn Racing Chevrolet.  Flynn picked up a 40-point win in Week 1 at St. Tammany Raceway, and then posted a 50-point Week 2 win at Whynot Motorsports Park.

                Car counts of eight or more award 50 points to win, and car counts of less than eight award 40 points to win at NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division events.  The points fall back one point per position back to 41 points for tenth-place and through the rest of the cars that start a feature race.  Cars that attempt to compete, but do not start the feature race are awarded 25 points.

                With the points adjustment, Chad Hiers of Ocean Springs, MS in the Hiers Construction Chevrolet moved into a tie for the second spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with Jarrod Fremin of Montz, LA in the Fremin Racing Chevrolet with 79 points apiece.  Fremin was a Week 2 winner at St. Tammany Raceway with a 40-point win.

                The points adjustment also moved Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS up to the fourth spot of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 78 points in the Willis Racing Chevrolet.  Donnie Ellis of Kiln, MS is in the fifth spot with 75 points driving the Moss Towing Chevrolet.

                Week 2 winners Adam Cheeks of Guntown, MS and Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL are tied for the sixth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division points chase with 50 points apiece.  Cheeks drove the Flurry Motorsports Chevrolet to victory at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Spears took the victory at Moulton Speedway driving the Spears Racing Special.

                Rounding out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings is a three-way tie for the eighth spot at 49 points among Bill Sudduth of Millport, AL in the Timberlake 602 Chevrolet, Dave Nations of Raymond, MS in the Street Stock Setup Specialists 602 Chevrolet, and Luke Riddle of Moulton, AL in the Riddle Racing Special.

                Drivers that race at NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals during the 27-week season that runs through September 29.  The 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division champion will pocket $2,000 and the National point fund pays back to the Top 10 drivers at the end of the season.
