NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series News Release: Contact – ROBY HELM – (865) 207-4157 April 6, 2015 NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 2 ROUND UP FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CARTERSVILLE, GA – Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS remains “Mr. Perfect” after NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 competition. Arnold drove the Strength Center Special to his second straight win on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, and his third straight series win. Arnold is undefeated in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action, as he has competed in three races, and has won all three of them. After Week 2 action, Arnold has 100 points and a two-point lead in the standings over Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, who are tied for the second spot with 98 point apiece. Joiner drove the Three Trade Consultants Special to a third-place finish on Saturday night in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series Race on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL. With a win at Southern Raceway on March 28, Joiner also leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings. Lee’s best NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Weeks 2 point night was Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway where is finished second in the Billy Riels Racing Special. Lee followed that up with a 40-point win on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA. Mark Clifton of Brewton, AL is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings and second in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series standings with 95 points. Clifton finished fourth on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series race driving the Carboline Special. A pair of former NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional Champions are tied for the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings after Week 2 action with 94 points apiece. The 2007 South Region Champion Frank Wilson of Milton, FL is also third in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings after driving the Wilson Lumber Trak-Star to a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway. Three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS finished third on Friday night Hattiesburg Speedway in the Byrams’s Trucking GRT. Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL, Greg Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS and 13-year-old Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL are locked in a three-way tie for the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 92 points apiece. Huss is also fourth in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings after a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway driving the Huss Racing Warrior. Dedwylder has been the busiest driver in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series having competed in four races. Dedwylder’s best Week 2 effort was a fourth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in the Bumpers By Goose GRT. Skinner drove the Skinner’s Body Shop CVR to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Skinner is currently fourth in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18-years-old and younger. The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS rounds out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 91 points. Daspit finished eighth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway driving the Billy Riels Racing Special. In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 action, Brant Tirello of Silver Creek, MS topped a 17-car field on Friday night to win the season opener at Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX driving the Reed’s Metal Special. Cody Smith of Holt, FL drove the Smith’s Performance Rocket to the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series win on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway. Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, TX presented the first-ever Southern Crate Late Model Series race co-sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series. Robbie Starnes of Houston, TX has become the latest super late model star to use the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series to reinvent his career. The veteran driver took the 40-point win Saturday night at Lone Star Speedway driving the Trick Suspension Special. That followed up a third-place finish on Friday night at Battleground Race Park. Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN rang the cash register twice on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Greg’s Sawmill Special. Newman won the $800-to-win Friday night race that was postponed by rain and contested on Saturday night. Newman came back later in the evening to cha-ching for another $1,000 in the 45 Throwdown Race. David Kay of Oxford, AL picked up his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series career win on Saturday night driving the Kay Racing Special in the season opener at Talladega Short Track. In the first two weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, 115 different drivers have earned points.
