NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 2 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Business will be picking up with Week 2 of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season. There will be 11 races on the schedule of events in six different states with three events on Friday night and eight races on Saturday night. Nine tracks will be hosting their first NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS events of the season.

Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR and Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will present their first NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series National points events of the season on Friday night.

Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS will present their second straight week of series action on Friday night where NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series co-point leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS will be looking for his second straight win.

Tracks hosting their first NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series National points races of the season on Saturday night are Bubba Raceway Park in Tampa, FL, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA will return for Week 2 competition where NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series co-point leader Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA will try for his second straight victory. Both Arnold and Trosclair sit atop the NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS points list with 50 points apiece.

Three-time series champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 49 points, and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS in the fourth spot with 48 points. Robert Casada of Hattiesburg, MS and Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS are tied for the fifth spot with 47 points apiece.

Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is seventh with 46 points, while Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS and Christopher Reid of Wiggins, MS are tied for the eighth spot with 45 points apiece. Zach Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 44 points.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.
