NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 2 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 schedule of events shows seven races in four states that include action in two different series that are co-sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.  There will be two races on Friday night and five races on Saturday night.

                The action begins this Friday night when the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series co-point leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS will be looking for his second straight win at his home track Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS.  Arnold is tied for the National point lead with Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL with 50 points apiece.

Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will be in action on Friday night, and is one of five tracks to open its National points season during Week 2 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.

Joiner is not only the co-point leader in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National points, but he is also the point leader in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series that is co-sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.  Joiner will be looking for his second straight win in both series this Saturday night when Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL opens its 2015 season.

Magnolia Motor Speedway will be back in action on Saturday night with a $1,000-to-win 45 Challenge Series Race that is run in conjunction with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.  Arnold won the first 45 Challenge Series race last Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, and will be looking to make it two-in-a-row this Saturday night at The Mag.

Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, TX will host the first-ever race for the Southern Crate Late Model Series that is co-sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.  The inaugural race will pay $1,000-to-win and drivers will compete for points and point fund money in both series.

This Saturday night will also see St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL host their 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season openers during Week 2 competition.

Following Arnold and Joiner in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National point standings are Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, the 2007 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series South Region Champion Frank Wilson of Milton, FL, and Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS, who are tied for the third spot in the points chase with 49 points.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS, Mark Clifton of Brewton, AL, and Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS are tied for the sixth spot in the National standings with 48 points apiece.  Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS, Ryan Crane of Panama City, FL and Monte Skinner of Saraland, AL are tied for ninth with 47 points apiece.

NeSmith Race Control will be providing live updates of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 action this weekend as information becomes available.  The NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Week 2 Live Updates will be available beginning at 8 p.m. both Friday night and Saturday night at the series’ Facebook Page at NeSmith Racing.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other Nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27.  The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with.  The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
