NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 1 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Tootie Arnold of Meadville, AL, along with Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series drivers Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS and Colten Horner of Katy, TX were NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 1 winners.  Arnold and Marsh top the point standings after the opening week of the 2016 season.

               Arnold drove the Miss-Lou Mobile Home Movers Trak-Star to the win on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA.  The 2016 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season got underway on Friday night with 16-year-old Marsh taking the win in the Modern Woodmen Trak-Star.  Arnold and Marsh lead the points with 50 points apiece.

               The third winner of Week 1 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, 13-year-old Horner, took a 40-point win in the Houston Specialty Products Company Special with a seven car field on Saturday night at Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX.  Horner is the youngest driver competing in the NeSmith Late Models.

               Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS are tied for the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 49 points apiece.  Dedwylder finished second on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway and Lee finished second on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway.

               K.I. Davis of Poplarville, MS and Bryan Foy of Lacombe, LA are tied for the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings, each driver with 48 points.  Davis finished third on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway, and Foy was the third-place finisher on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway. 

               Veterans Robbie Starnes of Baytown, TX and Jamie Smith of Purvis, MS are tied for the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 47 points apiece.  Starnes finished fourth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway and Smith was fourth on Saturday night a LA 36 Speedway.

               Hunter Lewis of Moss Point, MS finished fifth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway and is ninth in the standings with 46 points.  Scott Ladner of Lacombe, LA rounds out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 45 points after a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway.

               There was one NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 1 rainout, and that was the 2016 season opener for the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.  A rescheduled date for that event will be announced later this week.
