NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WRS SPOTLIGHT – CLAYHILL MOTORSPORTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN returns for its second season of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series dirt late model competition in 2013.  Promoter Dale Nelson has big things planned for Clayhill Motorsports in 2013 with the KING of the CLAYhill six-race series beginning on April 6.

Clayhill Motorsports has become the racing showplace in West Tennessee, as Nelson keeps making improvements to the facility to make the Saturday night experience better for both fans and competitors.  The 3/8-mile high-banked clay oval will host a “Pre-Season” event this Saturday night for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division.

The 27-week 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series National points season begins on March 25 and runs through September 29.  Drivers at Clayhill Motorsports will be eligible for a National points fund that pays $10,000 to the National Champion and pays back to the Top 10 drivers in the point standings at the end of the season.

NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model competitors at Clayhill Motorsports will compete against drivers at other sanctioned tracks throughout the country using a points system that counts their best 14 weekly point totals.  In addition to the National point fund, Clayhill Motorsports competitors will also compete for a track point fund.

In addition to the two point funds, Clayhill Motorsports will also be offering up some bonus cash in its KING of the CLAYhill six-race series that begins on April 6.  Drivers that compete in the first five events of the KING of the CLAYhill series will be eligible for Double Purse money in the Championship Race, the sixth and final event on May 11.

If the winner of the KING of the CLAYhill finale on May 11 has competed in the five previous events on April 6, 13, 20, 27, and May 4, they will collect the regular first-place money of $800, plus an additional $800 in bonus money.  All drivers that compete in all six races will receive double prize money in the May 11 event.

There will also be a $500 Bonus up for grabs for an out of state driver.  The out of state driver highest in the six-week points total that competes in all six races will receive the $500 KING of the CLAYhill Out of State Bonus.  If last season is any indication, there should be several drivers eligible for that award, as Clayhill Motorsports regularly draws drivers from five different states.

Three drivers that finished in the Top 10 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings competed at Clayhill Motorsports last season.  They include the National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS, eighth-place Robby Moore of Brosley, MO, and the 2012 Clayhill Motorsports Track Champion Kyle Berry of Portageville, MO, who finished tenth in the National points chase.

Other top drivers expected to compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition in 2013 are Tait Davenport of Benton, KY, Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN, T.J. Hays of Bradford, TN, Ben Garner of Greenfield, TN, Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN, Jimmy Halford of Atwood, TN, Rex Berry of Huntingdon, TN, Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY, Chris Ragan of Ramer, TN, and Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division will also return to Clayhill Motorsports in 2013 with a 50-lap $2,500-to-win race on July 27.  The 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Rookie of the Year Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL picked up his first Touring Division career win at Clayhill Motorsports last season.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, the newest series under the Crate Racin’ USA sanctioning umbrella, will make a stop at Clayhill Motorsports on September 21 with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series features dirt late models powered by the $7,000 all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT 525 Engine that is based on the LS Production Engine that comes in the Chevrolet Corvette, the Chevrolet Camaro, and the new Chevrolet SS.  The Chevrolet Performance 604 and 602 Crate Engines are also approved for use in the new series.
