HATTIESBURG, MS – Having provided a NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Friday night venue for the past seven years, Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS has played a key role each year in the outcome of the National Championship.  Each year, title contenders have competed on the ¼-mile clay oval.

Hattiesburg Motorsports Park, a charter member of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series, will begin its eighth season with the series in 2013.  HMP will host a “Pre-Season” event this Friday night before the NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS points season begins on March 25.  The first National points event at HMP will be on March 29.

Drivers will count their best 14 weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs from March 25 through September 29.  In addition to the $10,000 that goes to the National Champion, the rest of the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings will collect cash out of the National point fund.  Drivers at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park will also compete for a track point fund.

Three of the Top 10 drivers in the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings were regular competitors at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park.  National Championship Runner-Up Mickey Trosclair had several wins last season at HMP.  Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is the defending Track Champion and finished sixth in the WRS points chase.
