NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES SPOTLIGHT – BATTLEGROUND SPEEDWAY – HIGHLANDS, TX

CARTERSVILLE, GA – With the start of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series just four weeks away, several tracks will be hosting “Pre-Season” events. Today’s NeSmith Chevrolet OMG Weekly Racing Series Spotlight is on Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX.

Battleground Speedway is one of four new NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series tracks for 2013, and the first track the series has sanction in the state of Texas. Battleground Speedway will also be bringing the weekly Dirt Late Model Division back to the 3/8-mile high-banked clay oval on Saturday nights for the first time in 15 years.

“We’re excited about bringing Late Models back to Battleground Speedway as a weekly Division for the first time in 15 years with the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series,” Battleground Speedway Promoter Jeff Budden said. “The interest from Late Model competitors in the area has been good, and one of our drivers, Keith Pearcy, was the first driver in the country to purchase his 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Membership.”

Budden said NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series drivers from outside the area are also welcome at Battleground Speedway for Saturday night racing, and the track has a special incentive program available to them.

“Any NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series driver from outside the state of Texas is welcome at Battleground Speedway, and I will help them out with three pit passes and free grandstand tickets for their family members that they bring,” Budden said. “They just need to let me know ahead of time that they’re coming by calling me at 832-453-0927.”

NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model competitors at Battleground Speedway will have three “Pre-Season” races to tune-up their race cars before the season to compete for National Points begins on March 25. The NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS Late Models will be in action on March 9, March 16, and March 23.

Drivers at Battleground Speedway will compete with drivers at other NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series track across the country using a points system over a 27-week season that runs from March 25 through September 29. A driver’s season point total will be based on their best 14 weekly point totals.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Champion will earn $10,000 out of the point fund that will also pay back ten spots. NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model drivers at Battleground Speedway will also compete for a track point fund. Battleground Speedway will pay $500-to-win, $100-to-start for their weekly Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series events

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.
