GOLDEN TRIANGLE RACEWAY PARK DOES TEXAS TWO-STEP WITH NeSMITH LATE MODELS AND STREET STOCKS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, TX has done the Texas Two-Step by signing up for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for Late Models, and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division as a part of their Friday night weekly racing program in 2016.

Late Model and Street Stock drivers at Golden Triangle Raceway Park will compete for both a Track Point Fund and a National Point Fund during the 2016 season. In competing for the National point fund in both Divisions, Golden Triangle Raceway Park drivers will compete against drivers at other NeSmith Late Model and Street Stock tracks throughout the country.

The 2016 NeSmith Late Model and Street Stock Weekly Racing Series season for National points will be for 27 weeks from March 21, 2016 through September 25, 2016. During the 27-week season, a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their National total.

The $20,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back ten spots in the final point standings. The $5,000 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point fund will pay $2,000 to the National Champion and pay back ten spots in the final point standings.

“I was getting tired of every track having a different set of rules, and with the NeSmith sanction, all of their tracks are under the same set of rules, and that should attract drivers from other Saturday night tracks to Golden Triangle Raceway Park,” Golden Triangle Raceway Park Promoter Glenn Jackson said. “With other Texas tracks signing on with NeSmith Racing for Late Models and Street Stocks, everyone is uniform now with the same rules, point funds for the drivers, and it’s all good for everyone.”

Joining Golden Triangle Raceway Park with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models and NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stocks for 2016 are Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX, and Bronco Raceway Park in Cleveland, TX. Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX has run Late Models under the NeSmith sanction since 2013, but after being damaged by a tornado last fall, their status for 2016 is still unknown.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with. The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.

The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division also gives competitors economical options with both engines and chassis. NeSmith Street Stock competitors have the option to compete with a replica frame that features the same dimensions and weight as a 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo metric frame.

NeSmith Street Stock competitors also have the option of using the $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine, which is quickly becoming the engine of choice due to its price, ease of accessibility and maintenance, and durability. Eight of the top ten drivers in the 2015 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings, including the top four drivers, were using the Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.
