Jackson NCRA/MARS/MLRA Late Model Shootout King!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – McCool Junction, Nebraska – August 10, 2013 - Tony Jackson, Jr. continued his streak as one of the hottest drivers in the Midwest as he took home the victory and $3000 first place prize and claimed the 10th annual “King of the Hill Late Model Shootout” Saturday night as the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products late model touring series joined forces with the Lucas Oil MLRA and MARS DIRTcar series at junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska.

Jace Kaser and Jesse Stovall started on the front row for the forty lap feature with Stovall taking the lead as the green flag fell. Kaser, Vaught and Jackson gave chase with Vaught getting past Kaser to take the runner up position on lap two. By lap three Stovall had opened a five car length advantage over Vaught while behind them, Jackson disposed of Kaser for the third position.

Stovall worked the top side of the big three-eighths mile oval while Vaught’s preferred line was down low. Vaught, who won Friday night’s event, pulled even with the leader several times and as the front runner entered lapped traffic for the first time on lap ten, Vaught switched to the high side while Stovall went down low and Vaught caught the leader coming out of turn four to take the lead on lap eleven.

Vaught, aboard the #1v Clements powered Warrior Race Cars sponsored by Circle M Auto Sales/GW Performance/Integra Shocks, would then pull away to a half stretch lead while  Stovall, Jackson and sixth starting Kyle Berck battled for the third position.

Jackson disposed of Stovall for the runner up position on lap thirteen, just before the first caution of the race fell one lap later when Jimmy Segraves came to a stop at the top of the backstretch.

Stovall worked the bottom of the track entering turns one and two and used the top side of the speedway in three and four while Jackson followed the leader in turns one and two and would look to execute slide jobs in turns three and four but couldn’t get the move to stick.

The leaders entered lapped traffic again on lap twenty-four with Jackson, aboard the #56RLB Financial/Lindsey Chevrolet/Club 29 sponsored; Cornett powered Rocket Chassis still trying to make the pass each lap in turns three and four. He would pull even with Vaught on lap twenty-seven and one lap later would finally get close enough to pull off the slide job in turns three and four to take the lead.

From then on it was all Jackson as he withstood a late race caution with four laps to go to claim his third victory of the year with NCRA, fifth with MARS and fourth with the MLRA.

"We got took off there pretty good," said Jackson. "We had a good race there with Jesse and Will for a while. We just kept working Will over and finally he made a mistake and I got past him. I knew it was a long race and I didn't want to get my right rear tire too hot. I just lucked out and had a great night."

Vaught settled for second while Terry Phillips, who changed a motor after Friday night’s event looking for more horsepower, passed Berck

Junction Motor Speedway's weekly Late Model point’s leader, Jase Kaser was the night's KRC Top Qualifier and started on the pole. Jesse Stovall set the pace early and led the first ten laps. Vaught then took over, for the middle portion of the race. A late yellow set up a single file restart with four laps to go which allowed Terry Phillips to get passed Kyle Berck and claim the third position. Stovall settled for a fifth place finish.

The three, eight lap heat races for the twenty-nine car field were won by Stovall, Jackson, Jr. and Phillips while Chase Junghans wired the field in the twelve lap “B” feature.

The next stop for the NCRA late model tour will be at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas on Saturday night, August 24th.
