Billy Moyer Racks Up Over $41,000 in Weekend Earnings; Seeks Seventh Globe Trophy!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS)  Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) enjoyed a fantastic Labor Day holiday weekend, as they reached victory lane on two different occasions and racked up over $41,000 in earnings!  Their first win of the weekend came on Saturday, August 31 at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio.  Billy Moyer timed in third fastest in Group B during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and later took the win in his heat race.  After starting the 'Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble' from the outside of the front row, Billy led all fifty circuits en route to the dominating $15,000 triumph over Jimmy Owens, Dennis Erb, Jr., Scott Bloomquist, and Jason Feger!

The biggest victory of the holiday weekend came on Monday, September 2 at the Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania.  Billy laid down the tenth quickest lap in National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) time trials and later grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race.  After rolling off from the outside of the eighth row in the 75-lap main event, Billy methodically worked his way towards the front and mastered the tire-saving game.  With several cars up front bowing out with flat tires, Billy made his last to the finish to lead the final two circuits.  The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer recorded the exciting $20,000 win over Jamie Lathroum, Josh Richards, Eric Wells, and Tim Fuller and now holds the top spot in the current NDRL point standings!

In other action over the weekend, the BMR team started their Labor Day journey on Friday, August 30 with a $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series battle at the Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio.  Billy finished third in his heat race prior to logging an eighth place performance in the 50-lapper.  On Sunday, September 1, the 45th Annual 'Hillbilly 100' took place at the I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, West Virginia.  "Mr. Smooth" won his B-Main to transfer into the $25,000 to win crown jewel event and later picked off fifteen competitors en route to an impressive fourth place showing in the 100-lapper to finish behind only winner Jimmy Owens, Steve Francis, and Earl Pearson, Jr.  Full results from the long weekend of racing can be found online at www.dirtondirt.com.

“That is the kind of success we have been working towards all year long,” quoted Moyer earlier this week.  “It is no secret that we haven’t had the year that we would like so far, but my guys have kept busting their tail and our car is getting better and better.  We have been working on some stuff to incorporate into our cars for 2014 and things are seemingly coming together hopefully at the right time.  There were some big races last weekend and more coming up on the schedule, including this upcoming weekend at Eldora of course.  It would be awfully nice to carry that momentum from the Portsmouth and Roaring Knob wins into Eldora and go after that seventh globe!”

Next up for the #21 team will be the 43rd running of the ‘World 100.’  The event known as “The Granddaddy of Them All” will take place on September 5-7 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.  This Thursday and Friday night at the “Big E” will feature complete shows with a full slate of multi-car time trials to split the field into even/odd groups followed by heat races, B-Mains, and twin 25-lap main events, each paying $5,000 to the winner.  On Saturday, the time-honored format of six heat races, along with two B-Mains and B-Scrambles, will lead into the 100-lap ‘World 100,’ which boasts a hefty $46,000 top prize and the prestigious globe trophy.

The total posted awards for the 2013 edition of the ‘World 100’ is a record $283,910.  Billy has transferred into the ‘World 100’ feature event on twenty-two different occasions during his illustrious career and is the only driver to win it six times (1991, 1993, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2010).  Additional information concerning the biggest race in the Dirt Late Model industry can be viewed by logging onto www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Scott James and C.J. Rayburn Race Cars Partner for World 100 at Eldora Speedway!

(BRIGHT, INDIANA)  If you asked Scott James earlier this week if he would be competing in this weekend's 43rd Annual 'World 100,' the answer would have been "unfortunately no."  However, a late Tuesday night phone call from veteran chassis builder C.J. Rayburn changed that answer and set off a mad scramble to get ready for the three-day crown jewel extravaganza.  Scott has reached an agreement to drive the C.J. Rayburn house car, which will be powered by Rayburn Automotive horsepower, at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from September 5-7.

"It has been a crazy week to say the least," quipped James earlier this morning after just leaving his race shop headed towards Eldora.  "I didn't have anything lined up for the World 100 until late Tuesday night when C.J. (Rayburn) called.  I went to Whiteland yesterday morning to get the car and we pretty much pulled an all-nighter on it last night.  It is the new-style car that Jon Henry has been pretty fast in right out of the box and I have spent a lot of time with Jon over the phone in the last day.  I have to thank C.J. for giving me the opportunity to drive his equipment and I also have to thank Frank, Tommy, David Spille, and his dad for helping me get the car ready in the last 24 hours.  Hopefully, we can get it dialed in during the first two prelim nights and go after the win on Saturday!"

Sponsors on the C.J. Rayburn house car this weekend at Eldora include Powell Motorsports, Hoffmann Trucking, Joseph Stocker & Sons, C.J. Rayburn Race Cars, and Rayburn Automotive.  The car will be #83 and will be lettered at Eldora this afternoon by Michael LeFevers with Slicker Graphics.

The "Granddaddy of Them All" will kick off tonight and Friday evening at the "Big E" with complete shows featuring multi-car time trials to split the field into even/odd groups followed by heat races, B-Mains, and twin 25-lap main events, each paying $5,000 to the winner.  On Saturday, the time-honored format of six heat races, along with two B-Mains and B-Scrambles, will lead into the 100-lap 'World 100,' which boasts a hefty $46,000 top prize and the prestigious globe trophy.

The total posted awards for the 2013 edition of the 'World 100' is a record $283,910.  Scott has transferred into four 'World 100' feature events during his career and recorded a best effort of eleventh back in 2008.  Additional information concerning the biggest race in the Dirt Late Model industry can be viewed by logging onto www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Ray Cook Bumps 2013 Win Total to Nine Following Dixie/Rome Sweep!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA)  Ray Cook's 2013 win total now stands at nine following a weekend sweep on August 31 at the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia and on September 1 at the Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia!  On Saturday evening at Dixie, Ray posted the fastest lap during the qualifying session and later drew the outside of the front row for the start of the weekly main event.  Ray then led from flag-to-flag in the A-Main to score the $1,500 triumph over Jake Knowles, Cass Fowler, Donald McIntosh, and Lamar Haygood!

At Rome on Sunday night, the unsanctioned 'Rome Boss 50' took place and a $4,000 top prize was on the line. Ray laid down the second quickest lap during time trials and later started the 50-lapper from the outside of the front row.  After slipping back to fourth in the running order early in the race, the Brasstown, North Carolina ace quickly moved back to the front and grabbed the top spot around the lap ten mark.  Ray then beat Jake Knowles, Brian Smith, Donald McIntosh, and Aaron Ridley to the checkers to capture not only the $4,000 winner's share, but also a $1,000 bonus that was up for grabs for the weekend sweep of the sister tracks.  Full results from both venues can be obtained by clicking on www.dixiespeedway.com.

"It has been a pretty good stretch for us lately and hopefully that continues throughout the rest of the season," exclaimed Cook via telephone earlier today.  "It always means a lot to win at Dixie and Rome.  Those are two great racetracks and the Swims family has meant so much to this sport.  The car was good all weekend and hopefully we learned some stuff that will help us at the Lucas Oil races at those two venues in early October.  I just have to thank all of my sponsors, family, crew, and fans for all of their support!"

Ray Cook Racing will look to continue their recent hot streak this Saturday evening, September 7 at the Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama.  The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) will roll into "The Jungle" on Saturday to preside over the 'Crimson & White 50.'  The 50-lap headliner at GVS boasts a $5,000 winner's check.  Additional information concerning the one-day SAS show can be viewed by logging onto www.sasdirt.com.
