Billy Moyer Jr. Takes $3k Payday at KLMS

Batesville, Arkansas (06/22/14) - Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway (Calvert City, Kentucky) has always been a special place for Billy Moyer Jr. because it was the scene of his very first Super Late Model race in 2006. In 2014 the facility has become even more special as he won the $10,000 Bluegrass Nationals back in April, and on Saturday night he returned to score the $3,000 victory in his #21jr Crop Production Services/Mesilla Valley Transportation/ Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn/Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Seventeen Super Late Models entered the program, and Billy earned the sixth starting spot for the feature via preliminary action. By lap 12 Moyer Jr. had advanced to the second spot behind race leader, Dane Dacus. Lap 13 found Dacus seeing his night end as he slammed into the turn one wall, allowing Moyer Jr. to inherit the lead. Once out front Billy cruised to the $3,000 win, which marked his fifth win of 2014. He was followed across the finish line by Tanner English, Terry English, Randy Sellars, and Justin Asplin.

Billy also enjoyed a solid week on the UMP Summernationals trails with a pair of seventh place finishes on Tuesday and Wednesday at Farley Speedway (Farley, Iowa) and Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Illinois) to go with a second place finish to his dad, Billy Moyer, on Friday evening at Tri City Speedway (Pontoon Beach, Illinois).

"We really had a strong week in this new hot rod," said Moyer Jr.  "Every time we hit the track we learn something new, and I couldn't be any happier with Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn.  I really think we are onto something.

Rodney Sanders Shines Again in USMTS Four Race Swing

Happy, Texas (06/22/14) – Rodney Sanders pushed his 2014 win tally to fourteen over the weekend with yet another triumph in his #20 Swan Energy/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified.

Rodney Sanders was back in victory lane with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Thursday evening at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kansas). Sanders prevailed over Zack VanderBeek by eleven one-thousandths of a second in a finish that is sure to be talked about for years to come. Thirty competitors entered the event, and a heat race win once again sent Sanders to the redraw for the feature, where he received the second starting spot alongside Dallas Everett. From the outside front row, Sanders blasted to the race lead at the drop of the green flag. Rodney held a commanding lead out front until the race's first yellow flag slowed the action on lap eighteen. Sanders fended off second running Zack VanderBeek through two more caution periods before the third and final yellow flag waved with three to go.

This time, Sanders couldn't shake VanderBeek, and the two raced door-to-door with Sanders pounding the cushion around the 3/8 mile while VanderBeek ran low. A bobble by Sanders allowed VanderBeek to inch ahead at the white flag. The duo when wheel-to-wheel through the first turn and drag-raced down the back-stretch. VanderBeek exited turn four with about a half-car-length advantage, but Sanders held the momentum around the top as he took the checkered flag, nipping VanderBeek at the line for the $2,000 victory. Kelly Shryock, Thomas Tillison Jr., and Dylan Smith rounded out the top five finishers.

To go with his win Sanders opened the weekend with a third place finish at Valley Speedway (Grain Valley, Missouri) before ending the weekend on Friday and Saturday with runner-up efforts at Elk City Speedway (Elm Mott, Texas) and Route 66 Motor Speedway (Amarillo, Texas).
"The competition is so tough on this tour right now with guys like Zack (VanderBeek) and Stormy (Scott) really on top of their game so to get a win any night is a big deal for us," said Sanders. "Obviously I would've liked to have stole another win or two, but finishing in the top three every night isn't so bad either.

Complete results from the weekend are available at www.USMTS.com .

Sanders and Swan Energy Racing are digging in for another busy week of USMTS action that will see them taking part in six events in six days. The schedule is shown below:

June 24th: USMTS - Heart O' Texas Speedway (Elm Mott, Texas)
