Billy Moyer Readies for Dirt Late Model Dream After Wheatland & Granite City

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS)  The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team found themselves at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri and the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois over the May 23-26 weekend.  The long holiday weekend kicked off with a $5,000 to win Lucas Oil MLRA Series program on Thursday night at Wheatland.  Billy Moyer won his heat race in preliminary action and later placed sixth in the 40-lap feature event behind only winner Jimmy Owens, Tyler Reddick, Steve Shaver, Tony Jackson, Jr., and Jack Sullivan.

Things really heated up on Friday evening at the pristine 3/8-mile Wheatland facility, as the 21st Annual 'Show-Me 100' took center stage.  Billy laid down the twelfth fastest lap in Group B during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and later placed fourth in his heat race.  Following a B-Main triumph on Saturday, Billy started the $30,000 to win 'Show-Me 100' from the inside of the eleventh row.  Unfortunately, the Batesville, Arkansas Hall of Famer was an early retiree in the 100-lapper and wound up twenty-eighth in the final rundown.

The #21 team then wrapped up the Memorial Day weekend on Sunday at Granite City, as the annual 'Budweiser 50' boasted a $10,000 top prize.  Billy timed in second quickest in his group during UMP DIRTcar Series qualifying and grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race despite getting involved in an incident.  "Mr. Smooth" was caught up in another early scramble during the 50-lap main event and he eventually retired in the twenty-first position.  Full results from the action-packed weekend can be accessed online at www.dirtondirt.com.

Billy and his famed #21 BMR team now plan to take the upcoming May 31-June 1 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition to prepare for the 19th Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ by Ferris Commercial Mowers.  The famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio will once again play host to the sport’s richest first place prize on Saturday, June 8, as a $100,000 paycheck will be in the balance.  However, in a new twist, Twin 25 lap feature events will be held on both Thursday ($2,500 to win each) and Friday ($5,000 to win each) leading up to Saturday’s normal format.  The three-day crown jewel spectacular on June 6-8 now boasts a potential 31 races and 567 laps, with a posted payoff of $304,575.00.  Additional information on this year’s version of the ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ can be accessed by pointing your web browser to www.eldoraspeedway.com.
