Brady Smith Bags $10,000 for Exciting Spring Shootout Win; Batesville Ahead!

(SOLON SPRINGS, WISCONSIN)  Brady Smith, of Solon Springs, Wisconsin, returned to Dirt Late Model competition on May 10-11 at the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois.  The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rolled into the 1/4-mile bullring to sanction a pair of $10,000 to win clashes.  Following a rain-out at LaSalle on Friday night, Saturday's program went off without a hitch.

Brady, who had set out the better part of three months after undergoing knee surgery, returned to action in a big way on Saturday, as he recorded his second career LOLMDS victory!  After laying down the third quickest lap in Group A during the time trial session, Brady took the win in his loaded heat race to earn the pole position for the 50-lap 'Spring Shootout.'  The driver known as the "Prodigy" ran second through the early and middle stages of the race, but was able to get by leader Jimmy Mars to grab the point on lap 38.  Brady then led the remainder of the distance to score the $10,000 triumph over Mars, John Blankenship, Chris Simpson, and Don O'Neal.  Full results from LaSalle can be accessed by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

"Wow what a night it was for us last Saturday at LaSalle," exclaimed Brady earlier this week via telephone.  "Since we hadn't raced since Speedweeks, a lot of people probably didn't expect us to compete for a win right away, but I sure had confidence in myself and my team.  It was a great race with Jimmy (Mars) and I have a lot of respect for him and we always race each other clean.  I almost gave it away on that last lap by hitting a rut, but luckily I was able to beat him to the checkers.  There is a lot of money on the line over the next several weeks, so hopefully we can get some momentum going and run strong in those races!"

Next up for the Brady Smith Racing team will be another Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series stop, this time at the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas.  The 2nd Annual 'Bad Boy 98' will take place at Mooney and Connie Starr's facility on May 17-18.  Qualifying and heat races are slated for Friday night, while a pair of B-Mains and the 98-lap feature event are scheduled for Saturday evening.  The winner of the 'Bad Boy 98' will take home a hefty $20,000 winner's check.  Additional information on the big weekend in Batesville can be obtained by pointing your web browser to www.lucasdirt.com.
