FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 7, 2013 Wendell Wallace Eyes WOOLMS Double-Dip Following First Victory of Season! (BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Wendell Wallace and his #6m team graced victory lane for the first time in the young 2013 racing season on Saturday night, May 4 at the Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, Louisiana! Wendell drew the sixth starting spot and moved past four competitors during his heat race, which locked the Batesville, Arkansas star into the inside of the second row for the start of the 35-lap main event. During the course of the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) showdown, Wendell dropped back a few positions early before making a charge near the halfway point in the race. The driver known as the "Batesville Bullet" eventually grabbed the point with only a handful of laps remaining and scored the $2,000 triumph over Ross Camponovo, Tommy Surrett, Ray Moore, and Billy Moyer, Jr. Full results from Ark-La-Tex can be accessed online at www.compdirt.com. “It was good to get a win early in the season, especially after Raymond (Merrill) got one in the car last weekend in Oklahoma,” quoted Wallace this week. “I feel like the car is pretty good, we just haven’t got to run a lot this year due to all of the rainy weather. We dropped back a couple of spots in the feature the other night at Ark-La-Tex, but the car got rolling about halfway and we were able to get back to the front. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate this weekend and we can have a couple of strong runs against the Outlaws guys at Little Rock and Whynot!” The Wendell Wallace Autosports team will jump right back into action this upcoming weekend (May 10-11) in a pair of World of Outlaws Late Model Series tilts in the states of Arkansas and Mississippi. Weather pending, Wendell will take on the WOOLMS gang in a pair of $10,000 to win clashes on Friday at the I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas and on Saturday at the Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi. Both one-day programs will feature qualifying, heat races, consolation events, and a 50-lap A-Main. Additional information on the big doubleheader can be accessed by logging onto www.woolms.com. On Friday night, May 3, the brand new Timberline Speedway in Corley, Texas played host to a $2,000 to win showdown. With passing at a premium, Billy drew the eighth starting spot for his heat race and finished seventh in his prelim. The Batesville, Arkansas ace then advanced up to third in his B-Main, but that narrowly kept him out of the 35-lap feature event. At the Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, Louisiana on Saturday evening, May 4, another $2,000 top prize was on the line in the finale of the CCSDS doubleheader. Billy moved up four spots in his heat race to finish third, which locked him into the inside of the seventh row for the start of the A-Main. The popular driver known as "Mr. Smooth" then charged past seven competitors during the 35-lapper to cross underneath the checkers in the sixth position.
