Billy Moyer Jr. Welcomes MVT; Prepares for Speedweeks

Batesville, Arkansas (1/31/14) - On the heels of a series of successful outings in Texas and Arizona to start the season in his #21jr Crop Production Services/Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn Super Late Model, Billy Moyer Jr. now welcomes a major sponsor addition to his team as his attention turns to the start of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) season.

During the course of the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) and the inaugural Battle at the Border at El Paso Speedway Park (El Paso, Texas) Billy collected a $5,000 win to go with three top-top-five finishes and five top-ten-finishes. Along the way he learned a lot about his new car, and also picked up sponsorship for the 2014 season from nationally-renowned trucking company, Mesilla Valley Transportation.

In regards to his start to the season Moyer Jr. comments, "I was really pleased with the new Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn Race Cars. We came out of the box with some really good runs, and obviously the win at Tucson was a definite bonus. There's still a lot to learn, but I'm excited about the possibilities that this season may hold."

The addition of Mesilla Valley Transportation to Jr. Motorsports sponsorship list for the 2014 season comes at a key time for the team.
"It's definitely not cheap to drive up and down the highways, and while I've got some really great sponsorship from Crop Production Services and all of my great supporters, it was going to be questionable whether or not I was going to be able to financially do the national deal again." Billy concludes by noting, "I can't thank Royal Jones and everyone at MVT enough for their support. Their help means more to me than they can imagine."

Kent Robinson Strong in El Paso; Prepares for Modified Action at Volusia

Bloomington, Indiana (01/31/14) – Kent Robinson opened his 2014 season over the past few weeks with an extended trip to Arizona and Texas in his #7R JB's Salvage/Club 29/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model. While the excursion with the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) got off to a slow start, by the time the nine race series had completed Robinson had found his groove with a string of strong runs.

Everything from inverts to mechanical issues bit Kent early and often during the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, Arizona), but he did manage to claim a 5th and a 6th place finish during the six-race series.

One week later the action shifted to El Paso Speedway Park (El Paso, Texas) for the inaugural Battle at the Border. Robinson found the going to be much more friendly at the 3/8 mile oval as he contended for the win in the final two rounds of the three race series before settling for a 2nd place finish each night.

"We were a lot better at Tucson than our results showed, and at El Paso it really showed," said Robinson. "I feel like we should've had at least one win there, but all things considered we were pleased with our performances. He concludes by noting, "My new crew chief, Brian Leonberg, is doing a great job so far, and I think we could have a really great 2014 season."

Robinson will now park his #7R Super Late Model for a few weeks as he turns his attention to the #85 Jones Oil Open Wheel Modified, which he will pilot during the 43rd Annual DIRTCar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida). His schedule for the 1/2 mile oval includes individual shows on February 11th-14th with the Gator Nationals being held February 16th-17th, and the event drawing to a close with triple features for the Open Wheel Modifieds on February 18th. Rodney Sanders Takes Second Win of 2014 at El Paso; South Texas Next

Happy, Texas (01/31/14) - Rodney Sanders bagged his second win of the season on Saturday night at El Paso Speedway Park (El Paso, Texas) in the Championship Dirt Motorsports (CDM) sanctioned event in his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/Witchita Tank Racing/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified.

The inaugural Battle at the Border opened on Friday night at El Paso Speedway Park (El Paso, Texas) as 18 entries entered the Championship Dirt Motorsports (CDM) event at the 3/8 mile oval. Heat race action found Sanders racing from the 6th starting spot to a 3rd place finish, which positioned him starting on the front row alongside pole sitter, Jimmy Ray.  Sanders had high hopes for the feature, but an ill-handling car forced him to retire from the event just past the halfway point.

Rodney would get sweet redemption on Saturday night as he would score his second win of the 2014 season.  He started his night by charging from the 6th starting spot to claim his heat race win, which locked him into the pole position on the 18 car grid for the 20 lap feature.  As the main event went green Sanders grabbed the lead, and despite several challenges from Fito Gallardo and Jacob Gallardo he would lead every lap to register the $1,000 win.  He was followed across the finish line by Fito Gallardo, Jacob Gallardo, Royal Jones, and Christy Georges.

The weekend drew to a close on Sunday night with a final $1,000-to-win event. Rodney's night started with him charging to the win in his heat race to lock into the 3rd starting spot for the feature.  In the opening laps of the feature he jumped to the lead and paced the field for the first ten laps before Jacob Gallardo slipped past for the lead. Sanders would go on to finish in the 2nd position.

"It was good to get that win on Saturday night at El Paso.  We had a shot at two more victories, but we just spent a lot of that weekend trying to find the handle," said Sanders.

Full results from the event are available at www.ChampionshipDirtMotorsports.com .

Sanders will now turn his attention to the 2nd Annual Sparkling City Nationals, which  will be held at South Texas Speedway (Corpus Christi, Texas) on February 6th-8th.  The trio of events will pay $2,000-to-win, $3,000-to-win, and $4,000-to-win in succession, and will award points for the Mesilla Valley Transportation Gulf Coast Border Region.  For more information on the USMTS sanctioned events please visit www.USMTS.com .
