Rodney Sanders Wins Tucson Finale for First Win of 2014

Happy, Texas (01/21/14) - Rodney Sanders overcame a rocky start to the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) to claim his first win of the season in the $1,000-to-win finale in his #20 Swan Energy/MB Custom/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified.

After a long and frustrating miniseries Rodney Sanders was finally able to race his way into victory lane in the finale on Sunday evening in the program, which was sanctioned by the Championship Dirt Motorsports.  With 35 entries on hand Sanders started his night by racing to a convincing win in his heat race to lock into the pole position for the feature.  As the 20 lap finale went green Sanders snagged the lead and despite a late-race challenge from Cody Skitland, he went on to lead every lap to register his first win of the 2014 season!

In the first five rounds of the miniseries Sanders was forced to overcome an array of bad luck in heat race action.  On more than one occasion he was collected in incidents in the first lap of his heat race that forced him to b-mains.  Despite the bad luck Sanders claimed three top-five-finishes and five top-ten-finishes during the course of the six race series.

“It seemed liked early in the Winter Extreme that I had a giant bulls eye on my car,” Sanders said with a laugh.  “We learned a lot about the new MB Customs car this week, and I’m really excited about what our team can accomplish this year.”

Sanders will look to continue his winning ways on January 24th-26th in the inaugural Battle at the Border at El Paso Speedway Park (El Paso, Texas).  The Championship Dirt Motorsports (CDM) sanctioned event will see a $1,000-to-win program contested each night.  For more information on the event please visit www.ChampionshipDirtMotorsports.com .

Jimmy Mars Enjoys Consistent Start to 2014 Campaign; Gets $5,000 Win in Tucson!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his Mars Racing team got their 2014 campaign started in consistent fashion recently, as they were up front throughout the 'Winter Extreme' miniseries at the Tucson International Raceway in Tucson, Arizona from January 11-19. The National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) presided over the six-race burst of action in the Copper State and sixty-five different drivers competed in at least one event at TIR. Jimmy was one of only three Dirt Late Model chauffeurs to transfer into each of the six main events during the nine-day stint in Tucson.

The Menomonie, Wisconsin star, who reached victory lane in a Late Model only once in 2013, earned his first triumph of 2014 on Saturday, January 18. Jimmy qualified faster than anyone in his group during NDRL time trials on Saturday and later scored the heat race win over Max Blair and Ricky Weiss. After drawing the pole position prior to the 40-lap feature event, Jimmy dominated the A-Main to lead flag-to-flag to pick up the $5,000 payday over John Blankenship, Billy Moyer, Jr., Ryan Gustin, and Tony Jackson, Jr.

In addition to the win, Jimmy also accumulated four additional Top Five performances in Tucson. The popular driver known as "The Iceman" finished fourth in the $3,000 to win opener on January 11, third in the $5,000 to win event on January 12, and fourth in both of the $3,000 to win showdowns on January 15 and 17. In the 'Winter Extreme' finale on Sunday, January 19, which boasted a $10,000 top prize, Jimmy was able to pass four competitors on the primarily one-groove track surface to salvage an eighth place effort. You can read a detailed, race-by-race recap from each night at Tucson International Raceway by clicking on www.JimmyMarsRacing.com.

"It was a good start to our year in Tucson and it was a pretty emotional win for me on Saturday night," quoted Mars today. "A lot of people kinda counted us out because of our disappointing season last year, but everyone at Mars Racing worked really hard during the off-season and I think we put a good piece together for this year. We won some heat races and ran up front pretty much each night. I can't thank all of my sponsors enough for sticking with me through the thick and the thin. One of those sponsors - Todd Sinz with T.L. Sinz Plumbing - had a heart attack recently and I would like to dedicate our Saturday victory in Tucson to him."

Mars Racing will now turn their focus to a first-ever trip to the El Paso Speedway Park in El Paso, Texas. The NDRL tour will once again sanction the festivities at El Paso, as the 'Battle at the Border' will be made up of a trio of programs from January 24-26. Friday's opener at EPSP will pay $3,000 to win, while Saturday and Sunday's extravaganzas will both be headlined by $5,000 winning purses. All of the action will be broadcast live on Pay-Per-View at www.DirtonDirt.com. Billy Moyer Nabs First Win of 2014 Season During Winter Extreme; El Paso Next!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) kicked off their 2014 racing season from January 11-19 at the Tucson International Raceway, as the six-race 'Winter Extreme' miniseries took place at the Tucson, Arizona facility. For the first time, the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) presided over the dirt-slinging action at TIR and sixty-five different drivers competed in at least one event in the Copper State. Billy Moyer, who debuted a new Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn racecar, was one of only three drivers to transfer into each of the six main events during the nine-day burst of racing in Tucson.

Billy's 2014 'Winter Extreme' was highlighted by a feature win on Wednesday night, January 15. The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer laid down the fastest lap in his group during NDRL time trials last Wednesday and later scored the victory in his heat race. After drawing the outside of the front row for the start of the 30-lap A-Main, Billy grabbed the early race lead and held off all challenges to earn the $3,000 payday. "Mr. Smooth" picked up his twelfth career Arizona January triumph over Brandon Sheppard, Chase Junghans, Jimmy Mars, and Chris Simpson!

The Batesville, Arkansas hotshoe also nabbed two more podium finishes, as he was runner-up in the $3,000 to win opener on Saturday, January 11 and third in the $3,000 to win showdown on Friday, January 17. Billy also finished seventh on January 12 and twenty-third on January 18, while he was credited with a seventeenth place effort in the $10,000 to win 'Winter Extreme' finale on Sunday, January 19. You can read a detailed, race-by-race recap from each night at Tucson International Raceway by pointing your web browser to www.BillyMoyer.com.

"I would say that our debut with the Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn cars were a success with both me and Junior picking up wins in Tucson," stated Moyer. "We didn't finish the week like I had hoped, but we are still tuning on these hotrods and figuring out what the cars need in certain conditions. That is one of the reasons why I like coming to deals like Tucson and El Paso where you have multiple opportunities early in the season to work on your stuff."

Billy, who was the inaugural 2013 NDRL Champion, will now set his sights on the El Paso Speedway Park in El Paso, Texas. The NDRL tour will once again sanction the festivities at El Paso, as the 'Battle at the Border' will be made up of a trio of programs from January 24-26. All of the action will be broadcast live on Pay-Per-View at www.DirtonDirt.com. Additional information concerning the three 'Battle at the Border' events can be found online by clicking on www.thendrl.com.
