NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR MAY 20

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS drove the Reynolds Motorsports/Billy Riels Racing GRT to his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model win on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS to remain the point leader after Week 8 competition.

                Arnold now holds a 12-point lead over his teammate Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS.  Arnold has 391 points after four wins, ten top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 12 races.  Lee has 379 points after one win, and 11 top five finishes in 12 races driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT.  Lee finished second on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS.

                A third member of the Billy Riels Racing Team, Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS, took his third win of the season on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star.  Daspit is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 375 points after three wins, and nine top five finishes in nine starts. 

                Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 351 points after three top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in 11 starts driving the Mackmer Home Buyers Special.  Mackmer finished fifth on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS finished seventh on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in the Villa South Trak-Star, and is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 349 points.  Scarbrough has one win, four top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in ten races.

                Three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is sixth with 320 points after six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in nine races driving the Lee Motorsports Trak-Star.

                Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS is seventh in the standings with 280 points driving the Permanent Exterior Solutions Trak-Star to an eighth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park for his fifth top ten finish in eight NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series starts.

                Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA and Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS are tied for the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 275 points apiece.  Trosclair is technically ahead on the tiebreaker with one win so far this season.  Trosclair finished third on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in the Sparks Motorsports Special.

Trosclair has one win, six top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in nine races.  Barrett drove the Custom Spraying GRT to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS and now has three top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in seven NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series races.

                Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 269 points.  Stockstill finished sixth on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in the Stockstill Trucking Trak-Star.  Stockstill has one win, three top five finishes and six top ten finishes in eight starts. 

                In other NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 8 action, Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS drove Chase Washington’s Jerry Inmon Racing Special to his third straight win on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park.  Two-time West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS picked up his second straight win on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in the McDuffie Racing Trak-Star.

                Jeff Mathews of Valrico, FL collected his second straight NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win on Saturday night at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL driving the CURS Warrior. 

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN picked up his NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series third win of the season on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN driving the Taylormade Performance Special.  Waggoner was awarded the victory after the left-rear tire on the Murtco, Inc. Special of Benton, KY’s Tait Davenport failed the post-race inspection.

Randy Polk of Milton, FL in the Lucas Farms Trak-Star was another driver that was awarded a NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win in the tech area at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL on Saturday night after the left-tire on the Airport Sports Center Special driven by Stephen Brantley of Monroeville, AL failed the post-race inspection.

Chris Holley of Houston, TX drove the Holley Racing Special to his third NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX.  Greg Fore of Greenville, MS took his first win in his first start of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway driving the Fedrick Racing Special.

Chandler Petty of Austin, AR took his second win in his second NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series start of the season on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO driving the Whistle Stop Barbeque Rocket.

Week 8 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Saturday night events at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL were both rained out.

Wins by Daspit, Polk and McDuffie brought two-time champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL their 12th, 13th, and 14th NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series wins of the 2013 season, and they remain the leader of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings.

                Four-time and defending NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Champ GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR and Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV are tied for the second spot, as Arnold gave GRT their seventh win of the season and Petty gave Rocket their seventh win of the season. 

Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is in the fourth spot after Mathews gave them their second win of the season.  Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN are also participating in the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge.

NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION ROUND UP FOR MAY 20

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL took over a share of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point lead in Week 8 action by driving the Bass Sports Online Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine to his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

                Spears joins Trey Bright of Coker, AL at the top of the NeSmith Performance Street Stock Division points list, as each driver has 340 points.  Bright finished second at Whynot Motorsports Park on Saturday night driving the AKA Cores Chevrolet.

In the first eight weeks of NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division competition, Spears has four wins, six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in seven races.  Bright has three wins, six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in seven races.  Using the tie-breaker, Spears would technically be the point leader, as he has one more win than Bright.

Dave Nations is third in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 331 points after one win, five top five finishes, and seven top ten finishes in seven races.  Nations drove the Street Stock Set Up Specialists Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine to a fourth-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

Wayne Medders of Morton, MS drove the Medders Construction Chevrolet to a ninth-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park and that moved him up to the fourth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 268 points.  Medders has two top five finishes and five top ten finishes in seven starts.

Jarrod Fremin of Montz, LA did not compete in NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 8 competition, and that dropped him to fifth in the standings with 254 points after one win, four top five finishes, and six top ten finishes in six races driving the Fremin Racing Chevrolet. 

Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS finished eighth on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in the American Portable Buildings Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine and moved up to the sixth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 244 points.  Leftwich has two top five finishes, and four top ten finishes in six races.

Chad Hiers of Ocean Springs, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 243 points after three top five finishes and five top ten finishes in six starts driving the Hiers Construction Chevrolet.  Stacy Herron of Kiln, MS is eighth with 213 points after three top five finishes and four top ten finishes in five starts driving the S&B Contracting Chevrolet.

Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS is ninth with 208 points after one win, three top five finishes, and four top ten finishes in five starts driving the Willis Racing Chevrolet.  Jeffrey Walker of Meridian, MS rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 200 points after one top five finish and three top ten finishes driving the Shones Painting Chevrolet powered by 602 Crate Engine.

In other NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 8 action, Jesse Beck of Harrisville, MS drove the Herrington Millworks Chevrolet to the win on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS.  Saturday night NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division action at Moulton Speedway in Moulton, AL was rained out. 

St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA did not report their Saturday night results.  Drivers that competed at St. Tammany Raceway on Saturday night will receive their points as soon as the track reports their results.  A total of 139 different drivers have earned points in the first six weeks of NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division competition.
