The victory was the second of the year, and the biggest of his young career. "First and foremost I want to thank God for always watching out after me, on and off the track," noted Moore. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Eric Wells Collects 2013 Rookie of the Year Honors at WoO Banquet Hazard, Kentucky (11/12/13) – Eric Wells capped his rookie campaign with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model Series over the weekend by competing in the 7th Annual World Finals, which saw his clinch the 2013 WoO Rookie of the Year title as well as a sixth place finish in the overall series standings. A cool November weekend found Eric entering the final two events of the 2013 World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model campaign over the weekend with a trip to the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, North Carolina). Thursday night saw a pair of qualifying rounds being held for the 74 entries on hand, and the results of each round set the heat race line-ups for Friday and Saturday night's respective $12,000-to-win programs. Via his first round qualifying effort Wells earned the 8th starting spot for his heat race on Friday night. He would go on to advance four spots to a 4th place finish, but with only the top three finishers moving onto the feature he was relegated to a b-main. Eric won his b-main from the pole, which left him starting 19th on the grid for the 50 lap feature. In the main event passing proved to be difficult, and as a result he was only able to manage an 18th place finish. On Saturday night Eric started 4th in his heat race and would finish there as well as he missed the transfer by just one spot, which relegated him to a b-main. In the b-main Wells challenged for a transfer spot for much of the race, but fell short of the mark. As a result he utilized a series' provisional to start the feature in the 26th position. Despite starting deep in the grid he advanced fifteen spots to an 11th place finish. His weekend performances allowed him to clinch the 2013 WoO Rookie of the Year title, as he was honored at the Great Wolf Lodge in Charlotte on Sunday night. He was presented with a $10,000 check for winning rookie honors as well as a $25,000 check for finishing sixth in the overall standings. "I have to thank my family, my team, and my sponsors for all of their support throughout this year," commented Wells. "I had a great time on the road with the tour, and I look forward to trying to contend for a championship in 2014." Along the way Eric claimed a win to go with eight top-five-finishes and sixteen top-ten finishes on the tour.
