Junction Motor Speedway King of the Hill Late Model Showdown Awaits Lucas Oil MLRA!

Wheatland, MO (August 5, 2014) -Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska is the site of this weekend's King of the Hill Late Model Shoot Out, where Lucas Oil MLRA drivers will compete in a pair of highly anticipated summer-stretch events at track owner Delmar Friesen's beloved speed plant.

Friday and Saturday events mark the 67th and 68th time MLRA drivers will compete on Cornhusker State soil and the 18th and 19th appearances in McCool Junction's history. In the 17 previously contested MLRA events at the speedway, seven drivers made their way to victory lane, including both Will Vaught and Tony Jackson, Jr. (2013), Kyle Berck (2012), John Anderson (2007, 2008, and 2012), Terry Phillips (2008), and Al Purkey (2004 and 2005). Kelly Boen racked up eight victories including bell ringers in 2006 and 2007 and back-to-back victories in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Joining the Lucas Oil MLRA for this weekend's action is the MARS DIRTcar Series and National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) Late Models. The event traditionally draws a solid field of competitors, which is likely to include current Lucas Oil MLRA point's leader, Chad Simpson, a pair of Missouri-based drivers, Terry Phillips and Jeremy Payne, and current NCRA point's leader Kyle Berck and defending Lucas Oil MLRA and MARS DIRTcar series champion, Tony Jackson, Jr.

Junction Motor Speedway General Track Manager Mandi Oswald says she looks forward to this event each year. "This is one of the largest shows in our area, the fans embrace it and it brings a great crop of racers from three of the best Late Model groups in the business." Oswald went on to say, "Everyone always seems to have a great time at this event and it has produced some great racing over the years. We offer nightly camping at the track, our Sidewalk Café offers some of the best concessions in the business, and our facility is very family-oriented. The staff is a very close-knit group and we look forward to this race each year."

Friday evening, drivers compete for a $2,000 top prize. Gates open at 5:30 with racing at 7:30. Adult General Admission is $18; kids age 6 to 12 are $5. Friday Pit Passes are $30. On Saturday, drivers return for a $3,000-to-win main event with gates opening at 5 and racing at 7. Adult General Admission is $20 with kids ages 6 to 12 remaining $5. Saturday Pit Passes are $30.
