(June 26, 2013) Wheatland, MO - A holiday staple on the Lucas Oil MLRA schedule is the two day Independence Day weekend blowout at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska and Adams County Speedway in Corning, IA. These two highly anticipated shows will draw some of the largest crowds on the tour all season. Friday night will be the 12th Annual Alphabet Soup race, paying the winner $3,700. Last year the Adams County Speedway decided to make their date on the Lucas Oil MLRA schedule even bigger. They began the Liberty 50, which will be contested this Saturday night. It will pay $5,000 to win. The huge fireworks show following the race is the icing on the cake and an Adams County Speedway tradition.

One driver coming into the weekend with experience at both tracks is the current Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year points leader Travis Dickes. A late addition to the Rookie contender list, Dickes is coming off of a weekend where he scored a pair of top ten finishes. "We started off good in the heat races, but when the track slicks off, we're off a little," commented Dickes. "Most of these tracks are brand new for us, and we don't have any kind of notebook built for them. We'll just keep trying little adjustments and hopefully get better the next time we hit some of these places."

With Dickes two SLMR Championships, I-80 Speedway and Adams County Speedway were pivotal stops. He has a lot of experience at both and considers I-80 his home race track. "I like I-80 Speedway a lot. It's close to home for one. We do need to get faster with our open motor program there.  These MLRA guys are tough. We have been pretty good at these tracks, but when MLRA is in town there's so much competition. There's not a single slouch in the field. We know as a team, that level of competition is what will make us faster. The rookie bonus put up by the series and Sunoco really provided a good opportunity for us this year."

Will Vaught is scheduled to lead in a talented group of racers from across the midwest for this huge weekend. Vaught currently holds a twelve point advantage in the standings over Terry Phillips and Brad Looney. Tony Jackson Jr. and Jesse Stovall are tied for fourth. Three time series champion, John Anderson, is just two markers back of Jackson and Stovall. These six drivers are separated by only 39 points.
