FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wheatland, Missouri (June 21, 2016) - Following a one week hiatus, the Lucas Oil MLRA is racing again this weekend in a pair of long standing shows on the schedule. Friday evening action originates from the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska and the 15th Annual Alphabet Soup race. Saturday moves east to Iowa and the 2nd Annual Ray Houck Liberty 50 from Adams County Speedway in Corning.

The Alphabet Soup race pays $3,000 to win and marks the first visit of the season by the Lucas Oil MLRA. The early April weekend was wiped out due to poor weather. This will be the only visit by the MLRA prior to the 6th Annual $40,000 to win Silver Dollar Nationals in late July. Kyle Berck won this race last season.

The Ray Houck Liberty 50, Saturday, has $5,000 up for grabs. The 50 lap feature was a good one last season. Jesse Stovall held off a stellar field for his second win at the half-mile oval. Among changes at the speedway, longtime Late Model promoter Jim Wilson has taken over the promotional duties for the Adams County fair board this season.

11 races into the season and Jesse Stovall has taken over the top spot in the standings, with a good weekend last time out, including his first series win of the year at Southern Iowa Speedway. Terry Phillips and Tony Jackson Jr. are sitting second and third. Dave Eckrich and Jason Papich complete the top five.

Tony Jackson Jr., has been extremely consistent thus far in holding down third currently. An off season move to Longhorn Chassis has netted him three wins so far, though his best Lucas Oil MLRA finish is third.

"With Darrell Lanigan doing the Bowyer deal this year, I felt like we needed to do something different, plus there are an awful lot of those cars racing currently," said Jackson. "Our good nights have been real good, and our bad nights have been real bad. Honestly this car is probably a little better suited to run on soft tires, but we are making progress and getting more consistent. I have always liked Randy Weaver and all the guys on his team, so I just thought it's where we should be."

In Jackson's 2013 championship season he won the Liberty 50 and knocked down his best I-80 Speedway finish, running second to Jimmy Owens in the 3rd Annual Silver Dollar Nationals.

"The win at Corning provided us a good deal of momentum," commented Jackson. "We took the point lead following that race and never gave it back. Then we went to I-80 a few weeks later and were lucky enough to make the feature through the heats. I remember the first half of the race we weren't really very good, then all of the sudden we started moving forward. We even got around Jimmy Owens once and took the lead for a little bit. Those are some of my favorite memories from those tracks and we're ready to get back to both places this weekend."
