Wheatland, Missouri (May 11, 2016) - Throughout the history of the Lucas Oil MLRA there have been in excess of 600 completed events. During that time, none have come at Dubuque Speedway or Deer Creek Speedway. It's about to change this weekend.

For the second straight weekend the state of Iowa will factor into the plans of the region's top touring drivers. Dubuque Speedway is the third in the trio of speedway's operated by Keith Simmons and his team at Simmons Promotions. His other two are on the schedule later in the season.

Cosgrove, Iowa's Dave Eckrich currently sits fourth in series standings, and is looking forward to the weekend and racing in front of a lot home state fans Friday.

"We haven't raced at Dubuque in something like 10 years and the track is really different than when I was last there," commented Eckrich. "There is a wall which wasn't there so it'll be interesting for me to get back on the track. It's pretty close to the house and our fan base is pretty good there, so I'm really hoping for a good showing."

Once the show concludes in Dubuque, all eyes will turn to Minnesota and the state-of-the-art Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, owned by the Queensland family. Saturday's stop is one of the most anticipated on the entire schedule. It also marks the first time the Lucas Oil MLRA has raced in the state.

Known primarily for Modified racing unmatched by most places, Deer Creek has a diverse schedule and boasts many special events across several divisions of racing.

The headline event for the track every season is the Fall Jamboree, heading into its 18th year. Defending Lucas Oil MLRA champion Terry Phillips is a regular at the Jamboree and even won it in 2011.

"I love the place, and I always have," said Phillips. "I've won a few times there and been in a bunch of good races, but I've never raced my Late Model there, so that will be different this weekend. The shape of the track lends itself to a lot of slide job opportunities and these cars are quite a bit wider than our Mods, so there could be some sparks flying for sure. We'll just have to see how it goes."

Both races pay $5,000 to win and excellent fields are expected each night. Jason Papich continues to set the pace in the points chase, with five events in the books this season. Terry Phillips and Jesse Stovall are tied for second, just 16 points back. Dave Eckrich and Tony Jackson Jr. round out the top five.
