FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WHEATLAND, MO (April 2nd, 2014) - This weekend marks the start of the 2014 Lucas Oil MLRA season. Originally scheduled to be a Friday and Saturday weekend, with practice scheduled for Thursday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE, impending inclement weather has turned the tables on the show. It will now be contested Saturday and Sunday.

The Durst Double Down Spring Meltdown will begin with a practice session on Friday evening from 6-9 PM. Saturday will pay the winner $3,000, and Sunday will offer up a $2,000 top prize. If any driver is able to sweep both weekend events they will pocket a $2,500 bonus. There is also the guaranteed starting position in July's Silver Dollar Nationals for the driver leading the standings once both shows have wrapped up at I-80 Speedway.

One driver looking for big things this weekend is Madison, Nebraska's Travis Dickes. Dickes fresh off his 2013 Rookie of the Year title, has teamed with Al Humphrey Racing for the coming season. They began the year in Arizona, but will begin the main part of their campaign this weekend.

"I'm really looking forward to this weekend," said Dickes. "We will have our share of challenges, with a new team, car and engines; however, those are all good challenges. We were able to test just a little bit last weekend, and I really liked how the car felt. We have quite a few laps at I-80 Speedway and won there as recently as last season in an SLMR event. Whoever leaves there with the points lead, and a guaranteed spot in the Silver Dollar Nationals will have earned it. Hopefully it will be us!"

I-80 Speedway always draws a strong field of competitors from all over the region for its Lucas Oil MLRA events. The two day show will help bring some clarity as to the drivers who will vie for the $15,000 champion's portion of the season ending point's fund.
