(March 5, 2013) Wheatland, MO - With the opening race for the Lucas Oil MLRA just a few weeks away, series officials have been hard at work finalizing the rules package for the 2013 season. There have been a several changes announced over the off-season, such as the Sunoco Rookie of the Year program, Casey's Hard Charger Award, and Winner's Circle program's, but the remaining specifics have been addressed and are available for viewing on MLRARacing.com.

Among the major changes are the clarification of the basic car construction rules, which are nearly identical to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Other updates include adding one pound per lap fuel burnoff, the allowance of a second ignition system, a new weight rule of 2,250 for steel block competitors, and even an updated Season Championship Points Structure. All of the rules can be viewed and printed by clicking here.

There will also be a new tire rule in place for the 2013 Season. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series recently implemented a new 01-06 numbering system for right rear tires and also announced limitations on the other three corners of the car too. For Lucas Oil MLRA purposes, starting with the April 13th race at Lucas Oil Speedway, the L06 tire will be an option on the right rear, while the new Hoosier 1640 will be an optional tire on the left rear and fronts at certain racetracks. Both of these tires are the same basic compound and tire as the typical LM40 but with new labeling. In addition, these tires are all produced out of the exact same rubber compound as the standard WRS 55. Lucas Oil MLRA events at least through the month of June will continue to allow the WRS 55 tire on any corner. MLRA Officials will evaluate the early progress of the program before releasing final tire rules for the remainder of the races. "We've spent a lot of time making sure everything is in place once the season gets started," commented Series Director Dan Robinson. "Basically we've brought most things in line with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. We believe the new L06 and 1640 will be a great compliment to our series, but we also wanted to make sure that the WRS 55 remained a suitable option, as we know several competitors that have inventory of the tire. This new tire rule should really help out our drivers who want to compete in the Show-Me 100, Diamond Nationals and Silver Dollar Nationals. In addition, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series implementation of only six compounds will make it more attractive for our competitors to run at Batesville Motor Speedway and other races in this region."

The Lucas Oil MLRA (Midwest Latemodel Racing Association) sanctions regional Super Dirt Late Model touring series events in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Iowa.
