Wheatland, MO (January 26, 2016) - The first domino has fallen in the 2016 Sunoco Rookie of the Year Chase for the Lucas Oil MLRA. Norfolk, Nebraska's Tad Pospisil has informed series officials of his intentions to pursue a full year on the tour and the spoils from Sunoco Race Fuels.

"We have a lot of challenges ahead," commented Pospisil. "It kind of feels like we are starting over, the will be a ton of new competitors and new tracks. However, I really would like to build my name in the sport and improve behind the wheel. It's going to be neat to do some traveling and see several new places."

Pospisil has competed at five tracks currently on the season schedule, so he won't be totally in the dark when familiarizing himself to various tracks. Last season he did quite well in his Black Diamond Chassis.

According to Pospisil his high point was starting on the outside pole of the 5th Annual Silver Dollar Nationals, his state's biggest race. He also secured the I-80 Speedway Super Late Model Track Championship. Other track titles won in his career include; Wagner Speedway in Wagner, South Dakota and Boone County Raceway in Albion, NE.

Originally a go-kart racer, Pospisil won three National Championships in a 10 year karting career. Once he and his grandfather decided to get into full size cars, it was a headfirst dive into the wide world of Dirt Late Models.

"We knocked off a few spoilers," Pospisil joked. "It was quite the transition. We took a step back early on, in terms of success."

This season will be his seventh since the move, and he has 43 Late Model wins to his name. Pospisil has regularly competed in a select few Lucas Oil MLRA events in the past, mainly at I-80 Speedway. In last year's Spring Meltdown finale, he registered his best series finish of second.

Pospisil will start the year with two Black Diamond Chassis. His engine program is spearheaded by Scott Bailey. Primary sponsors for the team include Window World, Texas Energy Mutual and Signor Trucking.

At season's end the Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year will be awarded a check for $2,500, plus six barrels of fuel for the coming season. Those awards are in addition to all other point fund monies and contingencies.

Sunoco's involvement with the Lucas Oil MLRA has been invaluable. Their support of the Rookie of the Year program has been a huge addition to the tour, and provided outstanding support to many up and coming drivers.

The 2016 campaign begins April 1st and 2nd at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska. Two complete shows make the weekend. Friday's tilt pays the winner $2,000 and Saturday's winner will net $5,000.
