Bub McCool Ready For Alabama/Mississippi Double Header
Vicksburg, MS (3/19/08) – Bub McCool was in action in two divisions over the weekend at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Alabama for the Chuck Stephens Motorsports 100.
Bub competed in the Crate Late Model division and the Super Late Model division. After transferring from his consolation event, Bub started on the back of the Crate Late Model feature and had charged his way to the sixth position when he received hard contact from the car behind him, resulting in heavy damage, which ended his night. In the Super Late Model feature, McCool started 3rd and came away with a 3rd place finish in the 50 lap feature event.
This weekend, McCool will pilot his #57j Trak-Star/Barker Racing Engine Super Late Model in a pair of challenge events between the MSCCS & AMP Super Late Models. The weekend will get underway with a $2,000 to win event at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Alabama on Friday, March 21st. Bradford, OH - "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn made the most of his first racing appearance in the state of Georgia, as he brought home a victory Sunday afternoon at the Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The $1,000 victory was the first of the 2008 racing season for the Erwin Chrysler Dodge/C.J. Rayburn Race Cars/Sugar Creek Packing/1 Shot Graphics/AWP of Ohio/ Dargie Power/Rayburn Race Cars and Chinn's first career victory on American Racer Tires.
The long weekend for Chinn Motorsports began on Friday morning as the team made the four hundred plus mile voyage to Joe Loven's Volunteer Speedway, located in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. After some showers early in the morning, the race was cancelled and rescheduled for the following evening. Due to unknown circumstances the race on Saturday was also cancelled, forcing the Chinn crew to head to the phones in an attempt for a race to attend before returning home to Ohio. After spending many hours at Wal-Mart hanging out in the parking lot, and playing football to fight boredom, the decision was made to head south and try the Sugar Creek Raceway for their season opening event.
After timing in with the second fastest time of the day, "The Sniper" would start on the outside pole of the thirty lap, $1,000 to win feature event. As the green flag flew, Chinn would get the jump on the pole sitter going into turn one, and would never look back, leading the entire event and holding off a hard charging Rodney Weeks. The only snag in the road to victory for Chinn was a flat tire that let lose and blew out just ten feet before the flag stand, luckily for Chinn this happened on the final lap and on a straightaway.
For "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn, this was his first victory since October 11th of 2007 when he picked up dueling feature wins at the Lawrenceburg Speedway, sweeping both the Late Model and Crate division. In a Dirt Late Model career spanning four years, Chinn now has eight career victories at five different tracks.
Plans for this coming weekend are still in the air as rains and floods are saturating the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana area at the moment. Stay tuned to the website or the various online media outlets for information on where you can watch "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn race this weekend. An announcement will be made later on this week.

All of the driving turned out to be worthwhile, as Rick reached victory lane for the second straight time at Hagerstown!
After a convincing win in the first heat race, the field was inverted eight positions prior to the running of the A-Main. Rick rolled off from the outside of the fourth row for the $2,000 to win feature event and immediately started his march to the front of the field. The York, Pennsylvania native blew by leader Josh Richards, who started on the pole, on lap 16 and then paced the field for the remaining 14 circuits to record his second win of the 2008 season. Rick's Raye Vest / J&J Steel #24 GRT / Custom entry crossed underneath the checkers ahead of Roy Deese, Jr., Josh Richards, J.T. Spence, and Dan Stone. You can view complete results from Hagerstown online at www.hagerstownspeedway.com!
“It was a great run for us last Saturday at Hagerstown,” quoted Eckert this week via telephone. “The track was in excellent shape after it got ran in and during the feature, it was really racy. The Raye Vest Racing team will take the March 21-22 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition. The #24 team will use the off-weekend to prepare their cars for the upcoming World of Outlaws Late Model Series event at the Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Mississippi.
