Bub McCool Sweeps Weekend CCSDS Action at Greenville

Vicksburg, MS (07/07/14) – Bub McCool swept the weekend's racing action with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) in his #57J McCool Logging/ Victory Circle/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi).

Friday night found twenty-five Super Late Models registered for the $1,500-to-win opener. McCool posted the quickest lap overall during time trials, and went on to win his heat race to lock into the pole position for the feature with Tommy Surrett alongside. McCool grabbed the lead as the race went green, but Surrett would fight back and ultimately lead lap 1 of the 30 lapper. A caution flew just as the first lap was complete, bunching the field back up before going green once again. Surrett commanded the top spot as the leaders caught lapped traffic by lap six. On lap seven McCool used heavy traffic to his advantage to take the lead, but Surrett jumped back to the top spot just one lap later. McCool assumed the point once again on lap nine. Once out front Bub raced away from his competitors to lap all but the top ten runners on his way to victory, which came over Surrett, Clay Fisher, Duke Palasini, and Kyle Beard.

On Saturday evening. McCool captured his second career victory with the tour in as many nights with a $2,000 triumph. Twenty-four entries returned to do battle, and Bub locked into the second starting spot in the 35 lap finale via a heat race win. McCool jumped to the early lead, and by lap six the leaders were in lapped traffic as the first of four cautions flew. The second caution of the event waved on lap nine, and on lap ten Rickman used the low line to shot past McCool for the lead and he bounced off the outside wall in turn four.

The final caution of the night came on lap sixteen, and on the restart Rickman motored away from McCool. However, the race was far from over as McCool caught Rickman by lap 24. The duo rocketed past the flag stand side-by-side, and continued to go door-to-door until McCool used a slide job in turn four on lap 28 to claim the top spot. Over the course of the closing laps Bub stretched his advantage and went on to score the win by a straightaway over Kyle Beard, Tommy Surrett, Stacy Taylor, and Duke Palasini. The win marked his third of 2014.

"Greenville Speedway has been really good to us over the past few years, and my crew has really worked their tails off on this hot rod," said McCool. "We are learning a lot about this new car and seem to be getting better every time we hit the track."

The upcoming weekend has Bub tentatively scheduled to enter a single event as he may enter the $2,500-To-Win, Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Model event at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Saturday, July 12th. Tyler Reddick Turns Last Minute Decision to Race into $10,000

Corning, California (07/07/14) – Tyler Reddick has spent the 2014 season focusing on learning the ropes of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). However, he made the last minute decision to break out his familiar Reddick Motorsports #11 Broken Bow Records/Bloomquist/Gaerte Racing Engine Super Late Model for the first time in 2014 over the weekend for three events, and it resulted in a $10,000 payday as he conquered the first UMP Summernationals feature of his career.

Tyler Reddick made his first Dirt Late Model start of 2014 with a UMP Summernationals event on Friday night at Fayette County Speedway (Brownstown, Illinois). The $7,500-to-win event drew a field of thirty-four entries, and via preliminary action Reddick earned the fourteenth starting spot for the feature. Unfortunately passing became difficult in the finale, and Tyler would only be able to manage a thirteenth place finish in his Reddick Motorsports #11 Bloomquist entry.

Reddick made history on Saturday night at Highland Speedway (Highland, Illinois), where he raced to the first UMP Summernationals feature win of his career. The $10,000-to-win affair drew a field of 43 entries to the tight bullring, and after winning his heat race Reddick earned the outside-front-row starting spot alongside, pole sitter Bobby Pierce. Early in the race Reddick slipped as far back as third behind Pierce and Feger. However, lap 14 found Reddick rocketing into the top spot. He went on to lead the remainder of the 40 lapper to score the victory over Brandon Sheppard, Brian Shirley, Bobby Pierce, and Billy Moyer.

“It’s been a long time since we won a race so this is exciting,” said Reddick, whose only previous triumph in five years of Dirt Late Model racing came in a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on Feb. 9, 2011, at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla. “This was an unplanned race and here we are — $10,000 richer and won a Summernationals race. This is just an amazing feeling."

The weekend concluded on Sunday evening at Tri State Speedway, where Reddick started twenty-first on the grid before advancing ten spots to an eleventh place finish.

Full results from the events are available at www.TheHellTour.com.

Tyler now turns his attention back to the pavement ranks as he heads to Iowa Speedway (Newton, Iowa) this Friday for the American Ethanol 200 with the NCWTS. Reddick will again pilot the #19 BKR/Broken Bow Records/Reese Towpower Ford F-150. For more information on the event and its festivities, please visit www.NASCAR.com .

Ronny Lee Hollingsworth Knocks First Two Wins of '14

Northport, Alabama (07/07/14) – It was a busy Fourth of July Weekend for Ronny Lee Hollingsworth that saw the Northport, Alabama driver score his first two victory of the 2014 season in his Pioneer Roofing of Northport #18 Bob Pierce Super Late Model.

Action got underway on Thursday night at Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Tennessee). Twenty-eight Super Late Model registered for the $3,000-to-win program at the 3/8 mile oval. Hollingsworth set fast time in his respective group to lock into the third starting spot for the main event. Full results are available at www.WinchesterSpeedway.net .

Friday evening found the team pitted at Moulton Speedway (Danville, Alabama), and Hollingsworth locked into the feature via his preliminary efforts. Ronny Lee led the remaining laps for his first victory of the 2014 season aboard his #18 Pioneer Roofing sponsored Super Late Model. Complete results from the event are available at www.MoultonRaceway.com .

On Saturday night the team traveled to Arkadelphia Speedway (Arkadelphia, Alabama) as Ronny Lee pulled double duty in the Super Late Models and NeSmith Crate Late Model divisions. A $2,500 top prize was posted for Super Late Model competitors, which drew a field of twenty entries. Hollingsworth locked into the pole position for the finale, and went on to snare his second victory of the weekend. Full results from the event are available at www.ArkadelphiaSpeedway.com .

A stout field of thirty-five entries were on hand for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series program. Ronny Lee fell short of locking into the feature via his qualifying efforts, forcing him to run a b-main. He went on to win the first b-main, earning him the eleventh starting spot on the feature grid. During the course of the 40 lap finale Hollingsworth advanced to a ninth place finish in the final rundown. Full results from the event are available at www.NeSmithRacing.com.

SALDANA HOPES TO BE FIRST IN LINE
FOR SATURDAY’S CORONATION AT ELDORA

ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 7, 2014) – For one special weekend the Eldora Speedway, one of the most revered dirt tracks on the World of Outlaws circuit, transforms itself into the Magic Kingdom for sprint car drivers. At the end of Saturday night, July 12, the Kings Royal sprint car winner becomes King, wearing the traditional crown, surveying his kingdom from the king-sized throne, dressed in regal garb.

The Kings Royal at Eldora is one of the most coveted victories in the history of dirt track racing and pays a $50,000 King’s bounty to the winner!

Joey Saldana, who pilots the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop 71M,
is a two-time Kings Royal champion, scoring victories in 2002 and 2006.

He has also won on Friday night, the classic Knight Before The Kings Royal.  Last year, Saldana and the Motter team won the pole for the Friday event and finished third.

When he won the Kings Royal in 2002, Saldana collaborated with the same crew chief he has today, Davey Whitworth.  And by his own admission, it was probably one the most significant victories of his career because it was the win that made him feel like he would be a legitimate contender in World of Outlaws racing.

Saldana, known as King Joey XXIII, a royal designation commensurate with his most recent victory, calls Tony Stewart’s legendary half mile his most favorite track, which may be perplexing to some.  In addition to celebrating success, he has seen the track from a helicopter as he was being evacuated following a severe crash in 2010.

“I love driving into the place,” said Saldana.  “You drive through corn fields and all of a sudden, there’s the track. It’s the sprint car driver’s ‘Field of Dreams.’ This place commands respect and you have to earn your achievements.  I have paid my dues at Eldora, but I always look forward to the highlights of this track and think more about the good than the bad.”

Before the World of Outlaws gets to Eldora, the series will make a Wed., July 9 stop at Limaland Motorsports Park for the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic.

Saldana holds the track record of 10.763 seconds at Limaland set in 2009.  He won the Brad Doty Classic in 2006, the same year he won his last Kings Royal crown.

“We have a couple of goals this season that we have set,” said the Brownsburg Bullet.
“One is to win 11 more events so that I can be officially credited with 100 World of Outlaws victories.  We’ve won five events so far this year.  My career best is 21 victories in one season.

“These races are especially tough to win right now with the caliber of racing equipment and drivers in the seats, but we are still going for it.

“The second goal is to surpass my season’s best 32 quick times in one year.  We have 16 to our credit so far and the season is half over so we are on pace to accomplish that.

“And of course we want to win the championship!  That would mean so much to Dan and Ruth (Motter, team owners), our sponsor Doug Harris and all the employees at HE&M Saw, as well as Lonnie Olson, owner of Beltline Body Shop.”

Saldana is currently fourth in World of Outlaws point standings and leads the field with the most quick times so far this season.
