Big weekend coming up for the MARS DIRTcar Series as they visit the new Outlaw Motorsports Park in Oktaha, OK on Friday September 13th and the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, MO on Saturday September 14th.

Friday September 13th will mark the first visit to the Outlaw Motorsports Park since August 13, 2010 where Terry Phillips took the feature win when the track was called Outlaw Motor Speedway. In addition to the MARS series, the Grand National and Pure Stock classes will also run. Grandstand gates open at 5pm, hot laps are scheduled for 6:30pm and racing at 7:30pm. A big 3/8 track located at 8100 Wainwright Rd. Oktaha, OK, 7 miles south of Muskogee on highway 69 at the Wainwright exit, 11 miles north of I-40 on Highway 69.

From Oklahoma, the racing action moves to the Springfield Raceway Saturday night September 14th with the running of the 13th annual Larry Phillips Memorial presented by Green Lawn Funeral Homes. This year’s event has a huge buzz around it as Larry Phillips was added as a nominee to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. In Honor of the NASCAR Hall of Fame Announcement Springfield Raceway officials extended the event format to 75 laps in tribute to Mr. Phillips iconic #75. Drivers will also benefit from the format change as a lap sponsorship campaign where businesses and individuals paid $75 per lap that will be split up between the top 3 drivers $40, $25 and $10 respectively. With the lap sponsorship funds combined with the event purse, the late model drivers will be competing for over $23,000 in prize money.

Another addition to this year’s event will be an autograph session from legendary drivers like Ramo Scott, Freddy Fryar, Bob Trostle and Shane Carson. The Phillips Memorial will be the 4th round of Late Model Dirt Racing action at the Springfield Raceway this season with the MARS Series. Support classes will feature the USRA Modifieds and B-Mods, Midwest Modz, Pure Stocks (Must Bring your home track rules to compete or run under Springfield Rules) and Legend Cars.

Drivers expected to race this weekend include defending MARS champion Jesse Stovall of Billings, MO; current MARS point leader Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, MO; 6-time MARS champion Terry Phillips of Springfield, MO; Justin Asplin of Birch Tree, MO; Dustin Walker of Peculiar, MO; Leroy Johnson of Battlefield, MO; Brandon Morton of Broken Arrow, OK; Brandon McCormick of Lebanon, MO; Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, IA; Darrell Mooneyham of Verona, MO; Justin Wells of Aurora, MO and many more!

Pit Gates will open at 2:00pm. Hot laps starting at 5:15pm and racing action will begin at 6:00pm. Pit Passes will be $35. Grandstands will open at 4:00pm and adult admission for the Larry Philips Memorial Presented by Green Lawn Funeral Homes will be $20 with kids 6-12 only $5 and Under 5 Free.
