Magnolia Motor Speedway Eagerly Awaits Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

Columbus, MS (06/11/14) - In less than 24 hours eyes from around the motorsports world will turn their focus to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi as The Columbus Convention and Visitor's Bureau Clash at the MAG comes to life.

The huge event slated for June 12th-14th, 2014 will see the stars and cars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competitors attempting to tame the "Black Ice" in pursuit of a $20,000-to-win top prize and a total purse in excess of $85,000 plus, as the MAVTV cameras tape all of the action for a future airing.

While Mother Nature hasn't been kind to the area over the past few weeks Johnny Stokes and his staff have been hard at work getting everything ready.

"We've had a good bit of rain in the past few weeks, but this facility handles water so well that it really hasn't slowed us down at all on our preparations," said Stokes late Wednesday afternoon. "The phone is ringing off the hook from racers and fans for two weeks now. I really think this is going to be a big weekend!"

Drivers from across the country will invade the state-of-the-art facility for one of its biggest events of the year. Don O'Neal, Jimmy Owens, Earl Pearson Jr., Scott Bloomquist, Steve Francis, Eddie Carrier Jr., John Blankenship, Bub McCool, Jared Landers, Dennis Erb Jr., Jason Hughes, Jason Papich, Neil Baggett, Rick Rickman, Brian Rickman, Shane Clanton, Timothy Culp, Wendell Wallace, Jack Sullivan, Randy Weaver, Jimmy Cliburn, Chad Thrash, and a host of other drivers headline the star-studded expected list of Super Late Model entries.

The action opens on Thursday, June 12th with an Open Practice Session for all divisions from 7pm to 10pm. Grandstand admission is free and pit admission is $20.

On Friday, June 13th the event kicks into high gear as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will host time trials and heat race action. In addition the MSSS Street Stocks will battle in heats races, while the NeSmith Dirt Late Models will battle for $800 to win/$50 to start race event with it being a weekly point’s race. In addition Columbus Nissan and Columbus Gas Pros are sponsoring a winner take all $250 non-qualifier's race for the NeSmith Late Model competitors. Drivers Meeting is at 7pm SHARP with Action starting at 8pm on Friday.

Saturday night, June 14th will see the LOLMDS Super Late Models contesting b-main action as well as the 100 lap, main event, which will be taped by the MAVTV cameras for a future broadcast. The MSSS Street Stocks will battle in a $1,000 to win/$125 to start event that has seen an increased purse compliments of The Eaton Clinic. The MSSS Street Stocks will be battling for the following purse: 1-$1,000, 2-$600, 3-$300, 4-$250, 5-$225, 6-$190, 7-$175, 8-$160, 9-$150, 10-$145, 11-$130, 12-24-$125. Non-Qualifiers $40

NeSmith Dirt Late Models will battle for $1,000 to win/$75to start with it being a weekly racing series point’s race. In addition Columbus Nissan and Columbus Gas Pros are sponsoring a winner take all $250 non-qualifier's race. Mini Stocks will battle for $300 to win/$40 to start with it being a weekly racing series points race. Drivers Meeting is at 6:30pm SHARP with action starting at 7:30pm on Saturday.

On Friday night and Saturday night Grandstand admission is $25 for adults with kids 6-10 $5, and children 5 & under free. Pit admission is $35 each night with kids 6-10 years of age $25, and 5 & under free.

Two-day grandstand adult passes are available for $45. Two day adult pit passes are available for $65 and are $40 for kids 6-10 years of age. Three day adult pit passes are available for $80 for adults and $50 for kids 6-10 years of age.
