Magnolia Motor Speedway Purchased by Roberts and Stokes

Columbus, Mississippi (03/12/14) - After operating Magnolia Motor Speedway for the past few seasons as the facility has undergone the ownership of different groups, track promoter, Johnny Stokes, along with veteran of the racing world, Charles Roberts, officially purchased the facility from the asset management group that owned the track on Wednesday, March 12th.

"This is such a big relief to have ownership of the facility instead of just renting or leasing it like I've been doing for a while now," said Stokes. "There's a lot of improvements I've been wanting to make to the track and the property, but obviously with the future in someone else's hands it was too big of a risk to spend much money. We've been working on this purchase for two years, and finally made it happen today." He concludes by noting, "Now that Charles (Roberts) and I own it, the sky is the limit, and we are really excited."

Stokes and Roberts not only take possession of the track but also 95 acres that surround the state-of-the-art facility. The track has a huge 2014 docket planned including events with the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) Super Late Models, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), and the signature Magnolia State Cotton Pickin' 100 to go with a host of other specials and weekly shows. With ownership now based in Columbus, Mississippi Stokes indicated that interest is already buzzing from businesses in the area, who would like to become marketing partners with the track.

"I have to thank all of the fans, racers, businesses, and teams that have supported Magnolia Motor Speedway over the past several years to help it grow," notes Stokes. "Their great support and encouragement led to Charles and I forming this partnership to acquire the facility. We look forward to continuing to improve Magnolia Motor Speedway to make it the home for racers and fans throughout the area."

The first improvement that the facility will see is the addition of new dirt to the surface in the coming weeks as well as more advertising signage being installed around the property to meet the marketing needs of businesses, who are interested in working with the facility.

Magnolia Motor Speedway returns to action next on Saturday, March 22nd with a Weekly Racing Series Event that will include Super Late Models, NeSmith Weekly Late Models, Street Stocks, and Mini Stocks.
