Wheatland, Missouri - August 27th, 2013 - The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series thunders into the Lucas Oil Speedway this Labor Day Weekend, August 30th-September 1st for the 3rd Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals on Lake Lucas. "The feedback and the response for this race has been tremendous, I encourage fans to get their tickets in advance and get here early each day." commented track General Manager Dan Robinson. Lucas Oil Speedway is located at the intersection of Highways 83 and 54 in Wheatland, Missouri just 60 miles north of Springfield, less than 2 hours south of Kansas City, and just 40 minutes west of Lake of the Ozarks.

Robinson continued "This is the one we've been looking forward to all summer long. Where else in the country can you go watch 250 mph Drag Boats during the day and 800hp Dirt Late Models and Modifieds in the evening for one affordable ticket price?"

The 3-day festival of speed, fun and entertainment kicks off on Friday August 30th with a Open Competitor Test & Tune on the Lake from 10am-4pm. "The Friday tickets are just $10 so if you have never been to a drag boat race and are curious as to what drag boats are all about, Friday is a great day to check them out at a very affordable price." commented Robinson. Spectator gates will open at 8am on Friday.  

The action on Saturday, August 31st begins at 9am with a full day of Drag Boat Qualifying, including the mind numbing Top Fuel Hydros, racing down the lake at speeds in excess of 250 MPH! Spectator gates will open at 8am. The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series will wrap up qualifying just in time for fans make their way over to the Lucas Oil Speedway Dirt Track for the Lucas Oil MLRA Dirt Late Model Fall Shootout.

Tony Jackson Jr. leads the MLRA contingent into battle as the Lebanon, Missouri driver holds a 51 point lead over Crane, Missouri's Will Vaught. Fresh off his $40,000 to win triumph in last weekend's Topless 100, Springfield, Missouri veteran Terry Phillips is expected to be action as he works to close the gap on Jackson and Vaught. "The Undertaker" Jesse Stovall stalks the leaders in fourth in the season long points standings while Multi-time MLRA Champion John Anderson out of Omaha, Nebraska rounds out the Top-5. The Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds, will also be on the card as they run a special 30-Lap main event courtesy of Rains Ice. Three of the top-5 in USRA National points are expected to be in attendance including John Allen, Terry Schultz, and Steve Muilenburg. Originally scheduled as a $750 to win main event, Behlen Building Systems and Bret Givens Construction have teamed up to add an additional $3,000 to the USRA Modified purse this weekend as every main event starter will receive an additional $100 boosting it to an $850 to win, $175 to start main event. Three non-qualifiers will be entered in a drawing for an extra $100, $200, or $300 bonus! The weekend concludes on Sunday, September 1st, with the Final Elimination Rounds to crown the champions of the 3rd Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals. Gates open at 8am Sunday, with Sportsman Elimination slated to start at 9am. A complete detailed schedule is listed below including ticket prices, gate times and classes in action. All schedules are tentative and may change without notice. Monday, September 2nd will be a scheduled rain date in the event of unforeseen inclement weather throughout the weekend.

August 31st-Dirt Track Lucas Oil MLRA

The Lucas Oil MLRA Dirt Late Model Racing Series visits the Dirt Track for their fourth and final appearance of 2013, for the Lucas Oil MLRA Fall Shootout.  John Anderson captured the 2012 Lucas Oil MLRA Championship and the win in the series only stand-alone visit to the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks" in 2012. The Pitts Homes A-Modifieds will also be in action as the drivers battle for a special $850 to win top prize courtesy of Rains Ice Company, Behlin Building Systems, and Bret Givens Construction.
Dirt track spectator gates open at 5:00, Hot Laps at 7:00, and racing at 7:30.
