AUG. 16 LoneStar has it all: TWIN FEATURES & Annual $10 CARLOAD NIGHT! Kilgore TX (7/16/14) by DarinShort.com. One of the most dramatic nights of racing in LoneStar Speedway (LSS) history was when Twin Features night for Factory Stocks took place…and race fans should mark their calendars now, as the Twin Features for Factory Stocks will return on Saturday, August 16th! But that’s not all. It’s also the annual “$10 CARLOAD NIGHT” at LSS, where no matter how many people you cram in your car, $10 will get your entire carload a general admission grandstand ticket for the night’s racing program! And that’s still not all! It’s also our annual “BACK TO SCHOOL BASH”, which means kids ages 12 and under will receive a bag full of free school supplies upon their entrance into the grandstand area. Plus kids will be entered into our bike giveaways held that night! The night of fun and wild on-track racing action will be a full point’s night for the Modifieds (paying $1,000 to win and $100 to start) and Limited Modifieds ($500 to win). Each point’s and full-purse feature race for the Factory Stocks will pay $300 to win. The Beginner Factory Stocks will conclude the night’s racing action with their feature event. There is no entry fee in any race division 8/16. Any driver not making a feature race will receive non-qualifier money. Modifieds receive $50, Limited Modifieds receive $30, while any non-qualifiers in the Factory Stocks will receive $20. The format for the Twin Features for Factory Stocks will be identical to the last time LSS ran twin features: -Factory Stock drivers will sign in, as normal. Qualifying heat races and B-feature(s) will determine the lineup in the first feature race. -The second, or ‘twin’, Factory Stock feature will line up according to cars that finished on the lead lap of the first feature – but inverted. Then, the remaining lineup will be filled by cars not finishing on the lead lap, then drivers that didn’t finish the first feature (if they’re able to restart), then B-feature alternate drivers not making the first feature. -Each Factory Stock feature will be 20 laps, and their feature events will be run first and last in the night’s schedule, so drivers will have time to prep their cars for the second feature. -Each Factory Stock feature will be the following payback: $300 - 200 - 180 - 160 - 140 - 120 - 100 - 80 - 80 - 60 - 60 - 40… to start. -Both Factory Stock features are full LSS championship point’s events, as was the last time we held them. The last time we held the Twin Features for Factory Stocks, an unbelievable sequence of events occurred. First off, there were 21 drivers that finished on the lead lap of the first feature, resulting in a 21-car invert in the second feature! Yet, somehow the winner of the first feature, DeWayne Pace, managed to recover from being caught up in an incident at the start of the second feature, then methodically picked off cars here and there to eventually take the lead of the second feature in its closing laps, somehow winning both events! We’re hoping for another exciting return of the ‘Twins’ on August 16th – so don’t miss it! This is Round #10 of 12 in the LoneStar Championship Points Series that pays out a minimum of $10,000 to top finishing LSS points drivers. Rules for all divisions are on the track website. All pit passes are $30. Click www.LoneStarSpeedway.com for additional details. Again, it’s carload night, so you will pay the attendant on the entrance to the parking lot $10 upon your arrival – regardless how many people are in your car. There are no other costs associated with getting into the grandstand area. If you choose to sit in the reserved section, as always, it is an add-on of $5 per person. Reminder that ‘summer hours’ are in effect: racing begins at 8pm. We have found that the summer hours program is working really well, as it helps keep the track in optimum condition on hot summer days. A complete event flyer for August 16th has been posted under the ‘resources’ section of the track website. Here are some quick facts for the Saturday August 16th Twin Features/Carload Night/Back to School Bash: -Pits open at 5pm, Grandstands open at 6pm, Draw Cut off & Drivers Meeting at 7pm sharp, Track Packing at 7:15pm, Hot Laps at 7:30pm, Opening Ceremonies at 7:55pm, and racing at 8pm -General Admission just $10 per entire carload -Upgrade any ticket to the Reserved Section for $5 per person -All Pit Passes $30 -No outside food/drink coolers are allowed inside; a full selection of economically priced food concessions, including beer, are available -Click www.LoneStarSpeedway.com to check out the event flyer, track details, rules, purse breakdown; etc. Don’t miss the wild and unpredictable action at LoneStar Speedway on Saturday, August 16th, when Twin Features for Factory Stocks return…along with a full night of racing in the Modifieds and Limited Modifeds! |
