Ken Schrader Takes on Top Texas Modified Drivers at LoneStar Speedway - Saturday April 18!

Kilgore TX (4/6/15) by DarinShort.com. Racers and fans alike are set for a night of personal interaction and racing action with Ken Schrader as he will take on the best Modified drivers in the state of Texas, Saturday April 18th at LoneStar Speedway (LSS) near Kilgore, TX.

This will be a Texas Outlaw Modified Series (TOMS) points event, with an excellent competitor purse being posted; $2,000 to win and $200 to start (24th). The full driver payback is listed below. This is also a full LSS points event for all race divisions (see below).

Ken Schrader is one of the most popular and successful drivers in American motorsports, and LSS officials are thrilled to have him bring his Federated Auto Parts #9 Modified to LSS to compete with all the drivers in the region...and meet with the fans.

Schrader’s racing career has spanned 40 years and he has wins and/or championships in about every series in which he has competed; from NASCAR’s three national series to USAC’s Sprint and Silver Crown series. Schrader is a Daytona 500 polesitter and has won the prestigious Bud Shoot-Out at Daytona International Speedway. In addition, he has competed in literally 1,000’s of Dirt Modified and Late Model events throughout his career, so he is fully capable of hanging with the LoneStar big dogs.

This special event is also a chance for race fans to get up close and personal with Ken, as LSS is hosting a pre-race "Party with Ken" VIP Pass.

While supplies last, you can purchase your "Party with Ken" VIP pass at
http://www.darinshort.com/ken.html and it includes the following:

-General Admission to the event

-Reserved section seating upgrade (bucket seats)

-Food and drink coupon for (1) Homemade Mexican Dinner Plate and Soft Drink at the VIP concession stand (near turn 1)

-Access to VIP Party with Ken (held inside reserved section). The "Party with Ken" event will be held from 6:00pm until 6:45pm sharp. Ken will be available in the VIP area at that time for pictures with fans, autograph signings and apparel purchases/signings.

...and it only adds $10 to the posted cost of general admission tickets for all age groups!

If you can't make the party, Ken will also be signing autographs and meeting fans after the races at his race trailer in the pit area.

General Adult Grandstand Admission to this event is just $15, and $5 for kids ages 6-11; as we want everyone to be able to afford to come see this special night of racing and fun!

Along those same lines, the "Party with Ken" VIP Pass costs just $25 for Adults, in other words $10 more than General Admission. Ages 6-11 are $15 and ages 5 and under are $10 (and include all of the VIP Pass components described above).

The VIP food area will be served from the South concession stand (near corner 1) until 8pm. Advance VIP ticket sales are open through 4/17PM, or while supplies last. Event day VIP Party with Ken tickets may, or may not, be sold at the track, and will be $5 higher for all ages - if available. In the case of weather forcing cancellation of this event, your online purchases will be refunded within 24 hours. The pre-race Party with Ken is from 6pmto 6:45pm on April 18th, so make sure to be on time, as Ken has to race as soon as the VIP event ends!

As previously stated, this special night of racing and fun will be a sanctioned points event for the Texas Outlaw Modified Series (TOMS), featuring drivers such as Clyde Dunn Jr., Wesley Veal, Kyle Sweeny, Bobby Malcus, Cody Smith, Josh Landers, Danny Veal, Troy Taylor, Colby Smith, Charlie Smith, Kevin Sustaire, Triston Dycus, Chase Allen, Billy Brierton and B.J. Blaze.

Plus, DISCOVERY Channel will be filming the popular TV program MegaSpeed at this special event and will be broadcast on one of their upcoming 2015 episodes. MegaSpeed is now filming for its second season on Discovery Channel, and transports viewers on a six-episode high-intensity thrill ride - with each hour featuring multiple story arcs.

This is a point's event for the LoneStar Speedway Modified teams. Joining the strong TOMS contingent will be the top LoneStar Speedway Modified drivers, like Jason Ingalls, Larry Fears, Wes Armstrong, Billy Melton, Billy Jack Brutchin, Kelly Lockey, Jeff Harris, Robert Taylor, T.J. Steele, Greg Penny, Glen Perry, Donnie Powers, Dennie Gieber, Clint Mayne and Donny McBride Jr.

The Modified feature race will be contested over 30 green flag laps, and a very solid competitor purse is being offered by LSS: $2,000 - $1,000 - 800 - 600 - 500 - 400 - 300 - 280 - 260 - 240 - 220 - 200...through 24th. All Non-Qualifiers will receive $100. The standard TOMS entry fee of $50 will be in effect, and this is a USRA sanctioned points event. Non-USRA licensed drivers can purchase a temporary USRA license at the track on race night for $10.

Joining the special Modified event will be a complete LSS points program for the Limited Modifieds ($500/win) and Factory Stocks ($300/win). The Beginner Factory Stocks will round out the packed night of racing and fun with their feature event. There are no entry fees for these racing divisions on April 18th. Standard pit passes of $30 will be in effect. As in 2014, non-qualifier money will be awarded to any team not making their feature race: Limited Modifieds $30 and Factory Stocks $20.

2015 rules in all divisions are posted at the track website, drivers please make sure to review them prior to your arrival at the track on race night.

As in the past several years, LSS offers a fantastic awards program to drivers that compete in at least 75% of the completed LSS points events - with a minimum of $10,000 cash being distributed to top performing drivers in each of the LSS points divisions. Over $13,000 was paid out in 2013 and again in 2014, with all nightly 50/50 drawing funds and driver registration fees adding to the points fund. There are now only 11 weekends of racing on the 2015 LSS schedule, which makes plenty of time for drivers to visit other tracks, go on family vacations; etc., yet still compete for a sizable points fund championship.

An event flyer is posted at the track website and Facebook page. Division payback is posted at the track website.
