Lucas Oil Late Models, USMTS Modifieds
converge for "Clash of the Titans" this week

This summer's hottest ticket in dirt track racing is just a few hours away as the inaugural "Clash of the Titans" will take place at three historic dirt ovals in Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska this Tuesday-Saturday, July 16-20.

Featuring the stars and cars of both the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and United States Modified Touring Series, this is the week that race fans have been talking about all year long, and will continue to discuss for generations to come.

The hottest names in dirt late model and open-wheel modified dirt track racing will share the spotlight for what promises to be the year's hottest can't-miss events on any serious dirt racing fan's calendar.

Worlds collide on Tuesday, July 16, at the legendary Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. The following night on Wednesday, July 17, the jaw-dropping action moves to the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa, for the biggest show ever to hit the dirt in the Hawkeye State. The swing wraps up on Friday and Saturday, July 19-20, at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb.

1Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers will be battling for $10,000 to win each night on Tuesday and Wednesday while the competitors in the USMTS Casey's Cup Series will race for a possible $5,000 to win each night.

The event in Webster City-the biggest ever at the historic half-mile oval-will also be the final points race for the USMTS in the Farm Boy BBQ Sauce Northern Region presented by Day Motor Sports. After the checkered flag waves, another handful of drivers will punch their ticket to challenge in this year's Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup.

Both the Lakeside Speedway and Hamilton County Speedway are new venues for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with the two venues each hosting their first-ever series events. The USMTS has been to each track twice over the past three seasons, and the first three Fall Jamboree events were staged at Hamilton County from 1999-2001.

Both races are expected to attract a star-studded field of competitors, highlighted by an impressive list of the brightest stars in each division.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series boosts a roster of premier Late Model pilots such as defending series champ Jimmy Owens, hall-of-famer Scott Bloomquist, Billy Moyer Jr., John Blankenship, Steve Francis, Don O'Neal, Dennis Erb Jr., Earl Pearson Jr., Jared Landers, Eddie Carrier Jr. and more.

The USMTS is the premier dirt modified series in the galaxy, and fans can expect to see the best of the best on the planet including former USMTS national champions Kelly Shryock, Jason Hughes, Jason Krohn and Tim Donlinger. Other superstars such as twin brothers Johnny and Stormy Scott, Joey Jensen, Zack VanderBeek, Lucas Schott, Dereck Ramirez, Trevor Hunt, Corey Dripps, Ron Jones, Jeremy Payne and more are expected.

Several drivers are also expected to pull double-duty, racing in both divisions at one or more of the events. Among the names planning on putting in overtime this week are two-time defending USMTS national champion Ryan Gustin and second-generation veteran Terry Phillips.

A pair of well-known NASCAR superstars are also entered for this week. Clint Bowyer will be competing with the Lucas Oil Late Models on Tuesday at Lakeside while Ken Schrader will race his USMTS Modified at Lakeside as well as both Friday and Saturday at I-80 Speedway.

1Tickets are $30 for adults, kids ages 13-16 are $15 and children ages 6-12 are $10. Pit passes are $40 each night. On both days, pit gates will open at 2 p.m. and grandstands open at 4. There will be an autograph session for fans from 5:30-6 p.m. each day, with hot laps set for 6:45 and racing to follow.

The events at Lakeside and Hamilton County will rank among the biggest races either track has ever hosted. Visit www.lakesidespeedway.net for more information about Lakeside Speedway and www.hamiltoncospeedway.com for more information about Hamilton County Speedway.

After a night off, the teams head for another doubleheader with the two-day 3rd Annual Silver Dollar Nationals at the I-80 Speedway on Friday and Saturday. Brian Birkhofer claimed a $26,000 payday in last year's event, while the inaugural running of the event saw Don O'Neal claim a victory worth $25,000. This year's winner will walk away with $27,000.

Driving double duty, Terry Phillips picked up the checkers in the USMTS Modified main event last year at I-80 while his former teammate, Jeremy Payne, captured the inaugural event win two seasons ago. The USMTS main events will pay up to $4,000 to win Friday and $5,000 on Saturday (with the Big Dog Buy-In).

More information about I-80 Speedway and the Silver Dollar Nationals can be found at www.i-80speedway.com.
For those fans unable to attend, both events will be available live online via pay-per-view at DirtonDirt.com. Fans can place their pay-per-view orders now at www.dirtondirt.com/liveevents.php. Prices are set at $18.99 for each event.
Two-day packages are available for the Lakeside Speedway and Hamilton County Speedway events, as well as for both nights of I-80 Speedway's Silver Dollar Nationals.
