FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
WHEATLAND, MO (May 28, 2016) - Jimmy Owens became a 4-time winner of the Show-Me 100 by taking the $30,000 victory on Saturday Night at Lucas Oil Speedway. In front of a tremendous crowd and while closing out an absolutely action-packed race that was filled with drama, Owens picked up the lead for the final time when Scott Bloomquist lost a left rear wheel and Bobby Pierce had to pit with a flat tire.

After the final caution on lap 98 for Pierce, Owens led a 2-lap dash to the finish for the victory in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series/Lucas Oil MLRA co-sanctioned event. Bloomquist fought back to finish second, followed by Jesse Stovall, Jonathan Davenport and Tony Jackson Jr.

"We felt we had the best car here all weekend. I started having rear brake problems. The car started to really push and it wouldn't go through the corners. We had that final caution there near the end, and I was hoping to stay green. I would rather be lucky than good sometimes, and it's going to be a great ride home. I want to thank everyone at R&W Motorsports, Barry and Lance Wright, and all the crew. They have all worked so hard for this. This is just awesome," said Owens in Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the 54th time in his career.

"A big thanks to E3 Spark Plus, Wehrs Machine, and Ohlins Shocks, they all proved themselves tonight. Also thanks to a new sponsor; Cheap Cars. Thanks to Red Line Oil, and especially to Chris Davis of Midwest Sheet Metal. Thank God everybody had a safe night; there were some tough wrecks out there tonight. That highside was treacherous, but that's where you had to be."

Davenport bolted to the lead at the start of the race and led the first 44 circuits until Friday night's winner, Jared Landers stormed to the point. Landers held the lead until Bloomquist forged ahead on lap 55.

Bloomquist held the point until Owens wrestled the lead from him. Bloomquist rebounded to take the lead with nine laps to go but as he was entering turn number one, he lost his left rear tire. The caution came out, and he pitted for a new tire and wheel.

"I felt a little vibration," said Bloomquist on his left rear wheel. "I tried to stay on the bottom the best I could, but when Jimmy and Pierce went by me I thought I had better get up there with them. It's just unfortunate that the wheel broke. To get a second place finish after what happened is pretty remarkable. Fortunately, there weren't a lot of cars left on the lead lap so we restarted fifth, which helped."

The biggest story of the race was the amazing performance by Bobby Pierce. Pierce won the Midwest Sheet Metal Show-Me Challenge and charged from the 29th starting spot to take over the lead under the caution as Bloomquist pitted. Under that caution, Pierce's right rear tire went flat, forcing him to pit as well.

Stovall came out late to the starting grid due to mechanical issues and quietly charged through the field. He was running second to Owens with nine laps remaining. "I was riding around in the early part of the race, and then cars started dropping out and I realized that I was up to 12th. I thought; let's keep going and the next thing I knew I am up to second challenging for the lead."

"On that last restart I thought about going low and sliding him [Owens], but it just wouldn't stick down there and I ended up going to the top, but it wasn't good enough. Then I lost it a little bit in turn four on the final lap and Bloomquist got by him. To finish third in this race feels great."

Completing the top ten were Pierce, Steve Francis, Tim McCreadie, Dennis Erb Jr., and Chris Brown.

In preliminary action, Jason Papich, Chris Simpson, and Will Vaught won their respective B-Mains. Bobby Pierce won the Midwest Sheet Metal Challenge.
